Don’t get scared off by the raspberry pi in the thread title - it’s just a command line tool. It’s quite good to use when you’ve got lots of samples and you want to generate the smallest number of kits for the number of samples you’ve got. It’s got a best fit algorithm inside it.
For the 4 drumkits, we can use anything any sound ? I’ve never made a “normal” drumkit with drums or real things (I don’t really need to do that 'cause nice people do it very good :D, with very good drum samples)
I generally use the drum sampler or a microphone directly on the OP-1 to create parts of drumkits or things like that (the jew’s harp in my last track for example).
But when I do that I don’t make a perfect drumkit where all keys are affected or set.
Can I do something like this whithout breaking the rules?
they include samples from mp3’s and internet videos or trailers, the radio, a cassette, my alesis SR-16 drum machine and my modular set-up (a bit-crusher, percussion thing and a oscilator)
For the drums I used my Nord Drum 2. The first three kits are a bit more vanilla – for the fourth kit, I ran the hits through my DSI Evolver, which results in a gritty, kind of spring-reverby sound.
As for the synths – the two first are more basic, and the last two are samples from my Evolver.
A little info: There are two hybrid drum/vocal sample patches (one darbuka kit) and two vocal only sample patches of my friends and me. Some of it is kinda crazy, so fair warning, haha.
i used all the drums save for one, a different sound for each drum. they were my bass sample, my alesis drum machine sample, a sample of sarah palin for the vocal, and all of borden’s drum patches. i used borden’s brain synth and my modular sample as a synth as well.
It’s interesting that you chose my synths, I’ve been playing with your samples for the last week or so.
Life has gotten real busy this week. I am moving, I’m sick, and I have to give a talk this weekend. hopefully I will have some time to make noise soon.
