@rudolphrapid I usually make my kickdrums using NITRO with LFO assigned to the cutoff parameter. Then I tweak the master EQ to my liking and maybe some DRIVE compression. PUNCH is a great FX for getting more low end, too. And last but not least the DRUM envelope can add some nice transient boost.
Furthermore I try to limit the frequency range of each element, so that kick, bass, melody/lead sounds and high percussions (hihats and stuff) don’t interfere. You can do that either when creating / tweaking the sounds or while recording / bouncing (with enabled EQ via EAR input).
Just try it in the next battle. If it still sounds strange, you’ll have the best excuse
