I am a newbie. Bought an OP-1 a few months ago and have learned a lot from this website and listening to these battles. Had some time yesterday and figured I would give this a shot. I followed all the guidelines. Never recorded anything off the grid before so this was definitely challenging and very frustrating for me at times. Took much longer than I anticipated as I messed up a bunch and had to start from scratch. Still need to figure out how to master the final output a bit better on the OP-1...all in all very fun project and great practice for me. Hope to participate more in the future.
Cool. What technique did you use for the “scratching”?
Thanks <a href=“https://www.operator-1.com/index.php?p=/profile/ludicrouSpeed” style=“margin: 0px; padding: 0px; border: 0px; outline: 0px; font-size: 13px; font-family: “lucida grande”, “Lucida Sans Unicode”, tahoma, sans-serif; vertical-align: baseline; text-decoration-line: none; color: rgb(1, 115, 198); background-color: rgb(252, 252, 255);”>@ludicrouSpeed! All I did was record in the entire B-52’s song on one track with the CWO effect. The scratching effect came from me muting and unmuting that track. I feel like it could have been done a bit better but it was a total experiment. Thanks for the listen and feedback! TB
Here comes mine. Learned a lot while using the the off-grid-mode. Navigation is different. I recorded the B52-Sample with the internal mic directly from the speaker of my old iMac, recorded to album with heavy compression and back to tape. The FM synth does all other sounds except the drum loop.
PS: the only thing that was not usable was the arpeggiator, it always startet to drift after some bars.
Bit tied up at work, so will keep the battle open until tomorrow morning when I will have some free time to put up the voting thread. (Just in case it helps someone get a track in…)
I need a couple of hours to finish the track and I won’t have those until next week. Work is killing me. =( I do have a gig on Saturday – something to look forward to! =)
Great work on this battle guys. Really impressed with everyone’s input. It’s actually changed my workflow abit…I came across so many happy accidents on my ‘Ceremony’ I may actually work off grid more often!
