Korg Gadget Users?

Heh. I wish they’d provide some hardware integration with Gadget! Like either copies of the Volcas and Monologue, or ‘external korg gadget support’ with some smart midi mapping (pre-configured options for Midi CCs of those devices). But I think with the Mac version and the option to use all of the Gadgets as VST plugins, they may be saying "if you want to integrate with midi sequencing of hardware like a Volca, use Live/Logic/etc and pull in a Gadget alongside it instead."

But I would love a pocket-sized version of Marseille (the ‘digital PCM synthesizer’). Its got a small set Mellotron-style strings sounds that make my knees all wobbly. And I should just stop being lazy and get those samples onto my Volca Sample and/or OP-1 in the meantime.

So I read this thread, was curious about gadget, downloaded the ipad app and just fell into a sort of magic groove hole of 50 minutes without realizing what was happening. Damn I love this forum.

I was sad when I read they delayed Gadget for Mac (and the iOS audio tracks), but hey, its already almost “Late March”!

OK the new version with the audio gadgets is out. There’s a new free drum gadget also. Audioshare support too. A bit buggy though, I switched the audio gadgets, and things stopped working until I press stop and play again. I suppose they’ve had enormous pressure to put this one out. =)

…And it’s on sale: 20 bucks for the iOS version, 200 for the Mac one

It looks like all of the in-app-purchase gadgets on iOS are also on discount for the new launch. Bilbao and that other sample-based one are $4.99 US (down from $9.99).

Just in time for that new iPad to come out too! (My iPad Air is out of storage and starting to get a bit crusty).

Just to confirm, Gadget does not do MIDI Out? Cannot control external apps or synths from Gadget?

Really like the new drum gadget! I also caved and bought the Mac version as I think I’ll use it sketch out ideas and generally mess around.

So far quite impressed with it.

Not at present. The closest it comes is having ‘Gadget’ style versions of some Korg synth apps if you buy the external apps (Odyssey, etc) - and sadly those do not seem to share presets (I made some good sounds in Odyssey app but couldn’t find a way to use them in Gadget).

But man it would be cool if Gadget did external MIDI out and had smart ‘MIDI Gadgets’ for Korg’s hardware (from Volcas on up). I’d love that.

Thanks for the info @jshell

I would have probably gone for it this time if that were the case. Maybe I should finally pull the trigger on something that just does MIDI sequencing on iPad. I have several sound/song making apps on iPad, but never seem to have the desire to use them.

Does anyone know how you get the plugin suite? I’m more interested in using gadgets in ableton and exporting midi.

There's a link to buy the Mac app from the Korg Shop on the 'For Mac' page - http://www.korg.com/us/products/software/korg_gadget/for_mac.php

The plug-in suite is part of that.

Dang. I can’t afford $200 for software right now.
