Korg Volca Sample SDK released

I recall there being some interest here, but also dismay at the sample management app being IOS-only. Soo…Korg just released an SDK for development on any platform:

CDM article goes into a bit of detail:

For me, the video of Takahashi’s kid made the Sample a little more appealing, but still naturally skeptical, even as an iOS user. What are your thoughts @governorsilver?

I love the other Volca synths and look forward to checking this out, although I think only having an iOS (or any other kind of) interface for sample management is a bit of a misstep from the usually reliable Korg. At the very least a single mono input should have been included but I guess then you would need editing functionality, shift buttons, etc and all of a sudden the unit is bigger and costlier.

I am not iOS (Android here) so I at least welcome this announcement but not sure whether or not to ask Santa for one.

Better than nothing. Thanks for the link.

I’d probably be more tempted to buy after developers create interesting apps using the SDK - especially generative/algorithmic apps.

I could the OP-1 Drum Sampler for similar application (sample
audio, auto slice it into a “drum kit”, play back “drum kit” with any of
the OP-1 unique sequencers) . OTOH, the Volca has 100 sample slots and 65 sec. total recording time vs. 12 sec. on OP-1’s drum sampler.
