The closest you could get to that is recording some notes from a synth into a drum sampler using tape, and then using a set of keys for drum sounds.

O dang. Never realized you could record pitch changes with the monkeys. Really good to know 
Edit: silly me, they mapped the same sample to different keys with different pitches. Still a cool idea I never thought of

Just saw on Instagram cuckoo was at TE talking to them about the coming update. Hopefully @cuckoo you might be able to tell us whatās up (or maybe a video if we could be so lucky) or that we will hear something from te. Either way, Iām excited!!
I saw on instagram that TE told people to sign up for their newsletter for updates about the op-1. I signed up and they sent me stuff about their speaker. I feel like they trolled me and I wish I had time to troll them back.
Why do they (and other companies) keep their users in the dark so much? āweāre now finishing the vocals, mixing next week, mastering after, see you in the shops before Xmasā¦ā Kinda thing would be nice. But no. Suspense, intrigue, avoiding dissatisfactions. Itās not like this is a new product that they are hoping to flog. To TEās credit they have never charged for updatesā¦anyhooā¦itād be cool for Xmas, as lord knows, if this year is like last year all Iāll be doing is getting pissed, stoned and finding a quiet corner away from the family (whoāll be watching the same forced joviality shite on the telly), and have my op-one a-buzzinā

My guess is that they are very fluid with the direction they take the OP-1. As another user commented recently, itās more like a vanity project than something designed to specific specs for consumers. So with that in mind, the tight-lipped nature makes sense, because they donāt want to make any promises or commitments which locks them in to a specific direction.

Software is a tricky thing.
Its hard to say when something will be done because there is an infinite amount of ways to do anything and some ways are better than others.
I imagine either TE isnāt interested in keeping a strict release schedule and/or they are fighting some tricky development issues.

I recorded an informal video about the forthcoming update. Also introducing, in the video, Teenage Engineering's only TEENAGER EMPLOYEE!! It's up for review, so once everyone involved have had a say, I'll pull the switch and make it live for everyone. Not sure if they will review it during the weekend, but I'm hoping next week.
Once the final version is final finale fianlitius, I will make a new OP-1 tutorial video, perhaps prior to launch if I can make it
