OP-1 VIDEOS

Hey @noeclue this is nice :) Just got my OP1 and trying to figure out how to integrate with my Elektrons. Can you share how you've got the sync setup on this? I haven't touched overbridge yet. Been kinda put off for some reason. Whats overbridge/ableton's role here? Tempo automation? Thanks dude

Thank you @generationLoss! I appreciate the feedback, and great question. So I have the Elektrons following Abletons tempo automation through Overbridge and I have Ableton listening to the OP-1. So I can start in communication mode, hit play or record and everything starts. I also have my A4 listening to the AR midi pattern change command codes. Thanks for asking!

@Spheric_El @Anfim thanks for the kind words guys!

Don’t think this has already been posted, but I found it on youtube and really liked…

This one was fun, as I worked pretty much exclusively with samples another guy on Soundcloud sent me. Was fun to play with that limitation and see what could be done with strictly audio as opposed to using the synths.

Also, I never knew how nasty the Grid effect could be. Definitely gotta try using that more.

Badass OP skills! Loved the voice layers and wonky portamento slide stuff.

Do you do it in After Effects? Some shortcuts for making the workflow faster? I’d like to do something a bit similar, but I’m wondering how long it actually takes you to edit and do the texts… Great stuff, love your videos

Hey @josker : On average it takes me about a day to record and finish a video, but sometimes longer. I do my main editing in Premiere, using Titler to make the text on screen, which isn’t honestly that great. It’s not meant to deal with a ton of titles at once and things can get confusing. I also am mixing the track in Ableton, usually, to include at the end of the video, so that takes some time out of the day too.

If there’s anything involving tracking, effects, or waveforms on-screen I’ll pop on over to After Effects to knock those out.

Time kinda looks like this :

OP-1 Jam / Video Record : 1-3 hours
Track Mix : 1-2 hours
Video editing + titles : 1-2 hours
Exporting / uploading : 1 hour
Realizing you’ve made a mistake and having to export and upload again : 1 hour

Hope that helps!

Thanks, interesting to hear how you go about it! You’ve inspired me to push my own stuff a bit

Just found this nice Modular, OT, OP-1 video:

Nice sounds… It does get boring listening to 6 min of music that just bounces between two chords though. I guess chord progressions are hard to pull off in modular land…

^depends on the area, I guess.

But yeah, I think many modular performances end up being structurally rigid, because with many systems it’s hard to change up on the fly.

Didn’t know the MPC500 was portable, I really like how you’re pairing it with the OP-1

Keep on throwing vids, there’re pretty cool !

Thanks. Mpc 500 I got used purely so I could use outside without a computer. Its the perfect companion for op 1.

Someone seems happy with the Beta and is havin’ a go at it:
