Hey @hudson, cool vid! Have you tried using an app like MIDIflow or MIDIbridge to turn note on velocities to the note CC? Not sure if that would work, but lack of velocity is what is putting me off getting a Volca FM.

Thanks man, I’ll give it a try and get back to you.

Here the PO-12 provides percussion whilst the Volca FM gets all Sega retro!

That’s why I think the PO-12 is the best of them POs. Extremely easy pattern sequencing with a huge variety of percussion (and even lead, albeit a bit limited) sounds.

Arcade made this lady bug out

I own 4 of the Volcas (not yet the FM), and the PO-12, 16, and 20. I expected the Volcas to be superior in every way and the PO’s to be more “toy” like, but that isn’t necessarily the case. Actually, in terms of pattern sequencing, effects, and live manipulation, there are several Pocket Operators that have superior features to what the Volca counterpart offers, despite the price gap. I do think the Volcas are better in many other areas, including sound quality, interface, build quality, (limited) MIDI functionality, etc.

The PO-12 is pretty great. Certainly is the least hampered by the form factor and some of the weird “white key only” choices they made with the lead and bass PO’s. I do really enjoy the PO-20 - the chord and swell features were neat additions there, and it’s capable of a lot of neat progressions.

Some PO-12 and PO-20 action here. Chilling alongside Volca FM and a special guest appearance from Quantum VJ, an 8-bit audio visualizer from the guy who makes Sunvox.

Sync’ing the Pocket Operators using Korg Synckontrol, then iPad picks up sync from Synckontrol via Ableton Link.

I use Fugue Machine to trigger Korg iM1.

The result is a fun DAWless jamming setup

here’s a thing we put out today, a PO-20 ‘Titanium’ cover

Here is a something I was messing around with last night! Here is the description from YouTube: “I just picked up a Korg Volca Beats so I have been jamming with it, using the EHX 45000 looping station as the midi master clock. In this session I also use a Nord Electro 3 through a Fishman AFX acoustic delay pedal, Suzuki Omnichord through an Akai EK-1 Headrush delay, and a PO-14.”

Hello!

Just recorded yet another Rob Hubbard (C64-style) cover on the Pocket Operators. This time PO-20 and PO-28. Everything live and in one take straight to the computer without FX, the way I like to do it :)

hey there,

here are a bunch of videos I did with the OP 1 and various of the pocket operators. I did it and still do it, because of Cuckoos Jamuary.
All together there are about 9 videos … I only post the first one to not spam this thread. Ironicly the first video only includes the office as a little supporting act … you find the other videos on my youtube channel, if you are interested.
