Speak vs KO

I should maybe emphasize more that they REALLY pick up lint. Drives me nutso. It’s staticky and tough to get off. Still have em on there though…My Pocket Operators just rarely go in my pocket.

i haven’t read too many ppl say they prefer the case tbh lol

yea the variance of the cases is a potential issue too.
i.e. LEDs not being visible.

luckily i only got 1 wack one out of 5 cases that i’ve purchased.
and i got it on a clear out.
but it made the PO very hard to use.

i made it a bit better by drilling out the holes a lil bit more w/ a small drill bit and an xacto knife
but it wasn’t really worth the effort.

u can also maybe save yourself 10 bucks for the newer POs and make your own mic hole on an older case.
worked for me. plus u get some cool icons vs. the bland 1 . 2 . 3 . 4 labelling.

It’s kind of a bummer because I like the idea and the fit. I actually prefer the original versions, tailored to each unit because I like the printing on them. I do miss the aesthetic of the bare units. I do like the calculator-like look of them in the cases though. I’ve also taken to wearing one around my neck when I go out sometimes. Total hipster look lol barf

Anybody tried the DIY see-thru cases from Dich Studios? They look like they might still keep a more tactile feel to the buttons. The glueing of button pieces looks like a PITA tho…

Was sweating those. Dig the look and looks like a cool idea. Yeah the DIY glueing thing worries me a bit.

I got the cases from Dich for Po-33 and 35. Worth it.

Comes with extra buttons in case you mess up gluing the button pieces together.

One thing I noticed though is that sampling with these cases on is a bit tricky. Alot of times the ‘click’ of the buttons get recording at the beginning and end, more noticable on the po-33.

On the po-33 you can chop off the start and end points.
On the po-35 you cannot chop off the end point, but you can change the length of the note in edit mode.

Hello!

@pianobar and everyone that is curious about how the SPEAK works with drum samples, just did a quick video sampling the PO-12:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1YPIoIS0IRyGjJGSULKaK9LaZDZGj_d97/view?usp=drivesdk

The natural sound of the Rhythm is running inside the SPEAK.

My thoughts: the drum sounds on the SPEAK appears a little noise filtered (makes sense with the process that @punji is describing to us) but is not “thin” - indeed, the kick received a kind of more “organic” texture on it that I like. The hi hat, clap and snare are ok and the agogo (?) is the only one more fucked up.

Don’t think that traditional drum samples are the zone where the PO-35 shines most, but it’s definitely possible, against previous conceptions exposed here, and can even be a interesting textural resource (as with the kick).

@aeoner You’re the man! Thanks a lot, sounds good enough for me, even though I’ll probably get both the SPEAK and KO haha.
