Hey Everyone,
I am pretty sure The Brain is a feature exclusively working on midi tracks but I have managed to get it working on a track with a sample.
It doesn’t work all the time, but still, I was able to use brain exactly the same way as on track with synth engine.
I hope TE is working on expanding this feature to samples too, and somehow it’s not fully ready yet but ready enough so I have found it.
Is that even possible, what do you think about above?
Best,
WN
If you go to the second page of Brain, you’ll see that you can make changes to which tracks, 1-8 are able to be modified by Brain. Default is that the first 2 tracks are off, and the other six tracks are modified by brain. Just use the control knobs to turn the tracks on and off for 1-4, and SHIFT plus the knobs to adjust tracks 5-8.

Hi NearTao,
Many thanks, right, I hear you, but since when The Brain supports samples?
I remember wartching a video from Andertons with the guy from TE and he said the brain supports only MIDI instruments, so was that added later?
I mean, it’s pretty major change, so not sure if I got that wrong or what but again, he 100% said that The Brain is not working on Audio tracks with samples.
Best,

There are no audio tracks on the XY, everything is samples triggered by MIDI so no different from the built in synths really.
Sorry for the wait to write back… I’ve taken a bit of a “social media/forum” break for the week… a lot of stuff going on here and trying to clear my head a bit
“Brain supports only MIDI instruments”… is… a fine statement, but perhaps you’re misunderstanding. Brain will mix and shuffle note events… midi… whatever… and the OP-XY at the end of the day just uses those events to decide to trigger sound.
So yes, it’s true, Brain does not effect the audio itself, it just says “use note X instead of note Y”. This works quite well for instruments that are properly mapped, and can be pitch shifted up and down. It works… strangely when working with chops/slices… as… if you’re doing this in a drum kit… you’re going to choose a different chop whether it is a melodic chop or a percussive chop… doesn’t matter… it just shifts up/down a set amount, and will do it’s thing.
I did these videos late last year… but perhaps sill better explain what I mean when I originally responded to you.
