Not including vintage acid bang boxes!

All swede diet
so isn’t the gear you have your favorite then? or do u secretly wish u were w/ another girl…err gear?Problem is, I draw a distinction between “I like this” and “I wouldn’t swap it for something better”. For example, I don’t really like my Kronos, but I respect it, if that makes sense. I’m not going to sell that thing. On the other hand, I like my Juno Gi, but I definitely would swap it for FA-06… except right now this would cost me around $700 and I wouldn’t really get anything I couldn’t get from my other gear.
I like my Analog Four as a whole, it’s probably the most refined machine I own, but I feel that its sound lacks character. When I owned Tetra (which I sold to get A4), I used to play it just to listen to the sound. Although, part of this discrepancy is probably due to me not yet mastering sound design on A4.
I love the sound and ease of use of my JP-8080, but at the same time the minor artifacts it produces annoy the heck out of me. Precisely because it sounds so good otherwise. If Roland re-released that thing with the exact same capabilities, but no artifacts, I would pay quite a bit for that.
Yeah, I am nitpicking and over-complicating things, but that’s how I roll, heh.
My fave gear is the gear I own. I buy and sell based on my needs, always looking for sources of inspiration. At this time my arsenal looks like this: Moog Sub Phatty, Waldorf Pulse 2, OP-1, microKorg, Nord Drum v1. And when I’ll have the $$$, an Analog Rytm will be joining the army.

Happy to see so much love for the SP404sx. I have to say that these days it is my fav piece of gear for live performances.
I used to take a mpc1k loaded with beats and a volca bass (slave) for live gigs but found it boring and not so challenging.
Then figured that I could take looped stems from my own tracks in ableton live and spread them on 4 pads of the sp404sx. For example: 1st pad=drums, 2nd pad=main medlody+bass, 3rd pad=melody2+bass2, 4th pad=acap.
This is what’s happening in this clip I did a couple days ago https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJFhn_5d7ss
I am absolutely loving this machine, it’s like I’m remixing/jamming with my own tracks. There is so much room for messing up which makes it even more fun. I keep finding tricks here and there, the possibilities are almost endless. Also, 5 sec autoload, battery powered, throw in in a shoe box in my bagpack with some cables and the FMR compressor. Done.
I’m considering hooking up the OP-1 to the input for even more fun, once I’m 200% comfortable with the new setup.
OP-1 for the most fun,
TR8 just because.
Bastl microgranny
Oberheim DX
My Fender Strat, her name is ‘Gwen’, and the EHX Cathedral pedal I usually play her through.
My Thingamagoop- its the first noisemaker I ever built, the first noisemaker my kids ever played with, and its just awesome fun. My wife freaking hates it with a passion and wishes it would disappear.
My original Kaossilator, because I can come up with a nice loop in about 2 minutes and its a great motivator for my students.
my fave :

Bemi Easel
Buchla 200
Arp2600
Roland Space Echo 201

Happy to see so much love for the SP404sx. I have to say that these days it is my fav piece of gear for live performances.@lefilou Jolie session mec ! Et belle image... I used to love my SP404 og, this box could turn a simple sentence into a gnarly funky bass, I spent a lot of time resampling :D And I used effects a lot on my own voice or with my turntable...
I know that one day I’ll get a used SP SX.
I don’t know Strymon Deco but for me it can have a similar effect to color the sound.
Plus 100 other uses
One I forgot to add - Electrix Repeater, it is to loopers what the Octatrack is to samplers, or the 808 is to drum machines. And 3 new faves are the Pocket Operators, simply for the fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun and more importantly the unusually sophisticated grooves that can come out of them that belies their 16 step architecture. Fantastic.
I also forgot to include the iPad Mini Retina on my list. I bought it kinda exclusively for the music apps and now it’s totally incorporated in my workflow. iVCS 3, Lemur, Nord Beat, SamplR, Impaktor and Musyc Pro are just a few of the apps I use in songwriting on a regular basis.
