Has anyone thought to make a 3D printed version of the case the OP-1 ships in? If no, I can’t help but wonder why not? If i knew how to, I’d do it myself!
what would you get it made out of? aluminum>? a funky color plastic? seems useless. maybe just take off your aluminum case and spray paint it? most devices id say add a bigger battery but 16 hours is already overkill. I wonder if I could fit a raspberry pi zero or other similarly small PC inside of the OP1 to offload my current stuff regularly! a larger case might allow easier modding!
I personally think most 3d printed cases look really bad - like something that came out of a gumball machine. When I print I usually use them for prototypes or use them as molds, so their never the final product. And most things I see made for cases are done on cheap home printers and the only decent looking stuff I’ve seen are made with industrial printers
To answer the first comment- I’m referring to the outer packaging, not the Op-1 itself.
For the 2nd comment- I agree but I’ve recently seen some very high quality pieces from newer machines. Especially if they’re hand finished and sanded down.
Haha what a way to kill somebody’s ideas. Very uninspiring.
I think a combination of 3d print + laser cut on wood could make a nice case. I haven’t seen any but would love to.

That’s true, I’ve always wanted to try sanding my prints. I think a bit of wet sanding at the end would be proper.
there was someone a while ago who painted the original OP-1 box with a few coats of resin to ‘plastify’ it - if yours is still in good condition not a bad option
@brandonsarkis If I had an OP-1 on hand I’d gladly make you a case. I seem to have a pretty good track record for making aftermarket cases these days, PM if interested.
