Anyone excited for reface?

I have a weakness for classic organ sounds so the YC could be tempting but I’d want to try one out before making a decision. CP sounds pretty good too but the others don’t really interest me.

@KrisM Yeah but possibly up to 3 waveforms, Sine and 2 others. So that's a game changer for the DX...

TX81Z has been doing more than sine since 1987 unless I missed something

I’d get a DX if it was under $300…non-hiss FM would be nice. Feedback on all operators sounds really cool.
I’ll probably pick up a used one in a couple years.

Sorry, I meant for the DX Reface specifically. If your not wasting operators on creating more interesting waveforms than a 4 operator can sound cool.

That’s what I meant, not that it was breaking new ground as a synth or anything.

How can Nick Batt stay so enthusiastic about synths…even a sine wave sounds cool with some effects.I’m surprised he doesn’t get blasé and go “well it’s jus another synth though isn’t it?With effects and mini keys”.
I’d love to see him encounter the guy from Akai ,promoting the Rhythm Wolf(-with the funny expressions).

Lol-that was quick Doc

I think the dude from Akai has a diet of Pop Rocks and Red Bull…

Had to laugh. That old rumor about Mikey from the “Life cereal” commercials. I know him. Name is John Gilchrist. Good guy. He did Chunky Soup commercials later on, and was my bartender in college. Alive & well!!

Clearly the market wouldn’t accept the $499 street price, so they’re all $399 now. I imagine the Roland Boutiques made it difficult to compete.

Still, I’d rather wait for the Volca FM than go for a Reface DX. The CS, however, at $399… good OP-1 food, for sure. $359 Open Box from Sweetwater.

reface? im looking forward to their price bottoming out. digital machines with great interfaces. i look forward to owning one but not at $500. ill try adn get one maybe at 200 maybe.

I got the DX one a few months back, it’s great and for the money I paid was less than a used minty DX100 would have cost me, so in that sense I am happy with it. The TX81z is nice but dreadful to program and like the DX100 has a lot of background noise, the DX100 is nicer to program than the TX81z but not quite as flexible, the reface DX is a good modern alternative and it does sound very good too, with none of the problems of its vintage stable mates.

Can you import dx7 sounds like the volcaFM is touted to do?

@steveoath not as yet although it is only 4op so prolly never.
