Artists With OP-1

This thread made me join the forum. I currently own just a PO-16, and saving up and selling stuff to buy an OP-1. Anyway, here are the ones I’ve spotted from the music I listen to…

Fleet Foxes

Justin Vernon (Volcano Choir/Bon Iver)

Sufjan Stevens (Around 26:28)

Wow @ that Sufjan Stevens vid. That sure is one way to get velocity sensitivity out of the OP1.

Welcome to the forum!

That’s great to see Fleet Foxes uses it. I like some of their work, including Father John Misty’s.

The love the delicate expressivity of Sufjan’s band member. The OP-1’s synth modulations are so good for such nuances.

Just saw this pic on Twitter of Ted Gowens at some Apogee Digital function.

@libertinelush Thats right up my street. Listened to the whole performance, loved it

Not an artist with an OP-1 per se, but…

I take my OP-1 everywhere when I go places. Which meant it was in my pocket when I saw Hazel O’Connor last week. She was fascinated by it, but had to get back to the hotel and got (almost) dragged off by her team. I’m hoping she can get time to play with one in the future - there’s a bit in Breaking Glass where you could substitute an OP-1 perfectly!

Not quite an artist with an OP-1, but maybe an artist’s ode to TE, given the song name:

Discovered Biga Ranx through the OP-1…Cant get this track out of my head - just him and the OP-1 (sorry i cant find a direct link to the tune, just click on that)

@jonesy_op: good call! Never heard of him before and just checking his stuff out and lovin’ it.

I was 99% sure that I heard some OP-1 style sampling in the new Bon Iver tracks, now I can confirm it: http://boniver.org/albumcredits

I was actually listening to the radio through my OP1 looking for stuff to sample when I first heard that track! Weird parity. Very good music.

Yes, he says:

“I think the thing I’m working with the most is the OP-1. It’s a sampler-based synthesizer, and I honestly think it’s the most important instrument that’s come into my life since I first picked up a guitar when I was 12 years old.”

And here you can watch him and his band play live with 3 OP-1

Justin Vernon must be on the forum somewhere… I want to know if he’s using the beta!

Totally in love with the Imogen Heap track. Also have to say the Depeche Mode Broken studio performance was amazing.

Don’t know if this Churches performance has been posted:
