I’m very glad you liked it !
Very weird Soundcloud mix though, from what heard this morning.
It seemed the sound had not finished crashing…
Anyway, I’ll be far from internet for a few days, I had to put a final point to it
[Edit] I don’t think my entry is valid, so I removed it but I’ve really enjoyed listening to all the tracks, especially Space Cadet by @Yoof - amazing as always.
I made four song for this battle, I kept the last one. The other are good as well, but this one seems to have a better construction.
It seems that my stereo is a bit weird, strangely, all takes I made in the 4th track (which was hard panned to the right) sounded less loud than my 3rd track (hard panned to left) and there weren’t any way to change this without make the song sound with less space and flatter.
Great Battle. The rules are amazing (love space exploration <3) and the entries are rock solid. Two days ago I feel like those poor scientists after a rocket explosion: lost my first entry when I was exporting the album to the computer :/
The original one had a cinematic feeling, like the soundtrack of those ~heroic space ~ movies, with deep keys, agressive drums and a lot of vocal cuts. Started everything again, doing this time a more beat-oriented. In this one I got some intense noise sampling, chopped phrases (some low enough to act more as background noise than a vocal element), LFOs oscillating the synths and tons of spring reverb (with resampling/overdub). For the drums I used D-Synth and the Pattern Sequencer, breaking it in real time with the red knob. Don´t know exactly about the time, but I think it´s weird enough.
This is my submission. It’s been ages since I’ve used the OP-1 for making a complete song as I’ve been doing a lot of stuff on computer recently so fell behind a bit putting this together as kept making schoolboy errors when recording and bouncing down.
some really great stuff on this one. i already have a couple favorites and haven’t listened to everyone’s yet. gonna be a tough call, i can tell already.
i was bummed to not have had the time to focus due to my OP-1 being inoperable for the entirety of the challenge (no audio out)…until my part from ifixit arrived on Friday, i installed in Saturday…and i managed to squeeze out a couple hours to throw down this number this afternoon on a jam packed weekend.
had to go 5/4.
(and the connector board was a very easy install, but the power switch is so tight now. nearly pulled off a fingernail trying to turn it on/off a few times. hopefully it loosens up a bit more over time. better that than trying to mix using the built-in).
