Battle 34 - Battery Operated

There seems to be no objection. Let’s push the submission deadline back a week to Monday, June 8th.

Nice, thx @Lymtronics

Hi, my entry for the Battle. I was using the three PO’s and FX on the OP-1.

Great! So, Monday 8th!

Here’s my jam. All drums are Volca Beats, and everything else is Volca Keys with a little OP-1 Phase engine thrown in for good measure. This was fun - I was re-stoked on the Volca Keys making this. I forgot how rad it can sound - that filter is killer. Being totally unplugged is liberating.

Hi, here’s my track for the battle. I’m a complete noob, so don’t expect magic hands behind this. I took the opportunity to force myself into making a real track, rather than just tweaking samples and synth engine on the op-1 for hours. I’m sure some of you know what I mean…

I mainly used the volca keys and beats, added some OP-1 FX and resampled keys sounds. Some string and phase sounds on top, that’s all.

The main bits were made outside at night.

Thank god you moved the deadline back . . . I could never have met the first one, lol. Enjoying this battle though.

Hi !
Just “finished” my first OP-1 full track.
I just used the OP-1 and the radio sampler…

I wish I had played my volcas but I haven’t had time :).
I still enjoyed myself with the sampler (and the op-1 which is really a great surnatural object) !

Hello!

Originally I was planning to use my Microgranny 2.1. However, something isn´t working very well with the sampler so I changed to the SP-404SX. Sampled near everything with the SP from an iPod (two melodies, one break, three noises); the line from a movie that I really like (which movie? was already inside the sampler (and was originally sampled from an Youtube trailer). Resampled everything with the OP-1.

The first sample was used to build the first melody; the second one (which really remembers the first one but isn´t the same source!) is a loop, as is the drum break. Used the Delay from the OP-1 on everything (but not on the master, with variable parameters. The noise was originally sampled from the SP with the “Vinyl Sim” effect of the Roland´s sampler. Used the “Nitro” on the master, doing little variations on the drum loop.

The beat is a very straightforward one. Wanted something jazzy; some local MCs want to rhyme over my OP-1 beats but it´s hard to them because the beats have odd measures, so I tried to do a very simple and basic one this time thinking on them.

Old school EBM! Tried to break the mold and do something aggressive

I had a pretty goofy setup:
Casio VL-1
Volca Beats
Home made PWM oscillator I made on a breadboard (this is the weird noise in the beginning and the bass line throughout)
Some of this run through a distortion pedal I made from a kit.
Op-1 (DNA Synth)

First time to battle in a long while. Hope you like it. I used: Korg Volca Bass (live), Korg Monotribe (live), Casio VL-1 (sampled to OP-1), Casio MT-540 (sampled to OP-1), and Ti Speak 'n Math (sampled to OP-1). OP-1 for reocrding, effects and additional drums (Hortax, I think). Enjoy!
