Bluetooth headphones with OP-1 Field

Sorry if this is already well known - but is there. Way to connect Bluetooth headphones or speakers to the OP-1 Field. I see it has Bluetooth for midi, but can’t see any other details.

I use Bluetooth headphones when traveling and it would be really convenient to be able to pair them with the OP-1. Super portable.

Thanks!

You can use a USB C bluetooth dongle like this one:

Internal bluetooth does not support audio.

I feel silly asking that such a thing even exists! What is the latency like? Do you use it yourself ?

Well I guess I’ll order one and find out for us then

Shame it’s not supported. Seems like a strange omission given it’s positioned to be portable. I’m surprised it wasn’t mentioned in any of the reviews or discussions I read.

Does anyone have experience with the Avantree dongle? Can the OP-1 Field output audio over USB-C?

i think its because bluetooth latency is slow enough to make it impractical for playing stuff in live which is really the op-1’s bread n butter. there are ultra low latency bluetooth options but i havent seen any slim ones that could be built into the op-1f, and even that may require specific headphones.

phones and smart devices compensate for the latency when listening to music or watching videos but music production apps experience audio latency over bluetooth

out of curiousity i checked the stats of AIAIAI’s ultra low latency wireless headphones to the dongle posted up there and the AIAIAI’s have maximum latency of 16ms vs that dongle’s ~40ms. AIAIAI also says the AptXHD tech used in that dongle compresses the audio significantly. so that could impact the quality of the audio, along with not having low enough latency to play things in live for me at least.

i had the wireless AIAIAI’s briefly and i honestly didnt like working with even 16ms of latency. or the monster hog of a transmitter that needed to be plugged into the sound source.

I just had one lying around from my headset and i tested it once. Latency was around 100ms. Way too much to use it live.

Certainly wouldn’t want Bluetooth when live. Reliability could be an issue.

But for travel and portability, it makes sense. Bluetooth APX modules are tiny. It sounds like cost reduction in manufacturing or engineering down (unless it is supported but not enabled yet).

Disappointing omission. Less future proofed. But dongly might be a work around. Can’t see anything about audio over USB c though.

im not saying during a live performance, im saying there will be lots of latency between inputting notes on the keyboard and the sound coming out of your headphones. unless you only want to listen to a piece without recording anything else on time, bluetooth wont work for making non-sequencer based music (and even then its less than ideal). theres a reason all the bluetooth enabled gear is only bluetooth MIDI. i think your disappointment may be misguided.

i can see the “why is my op-1f bluetooth broken and slow??” reddit posts now had they included it despite the latency problems…

The OP-1 Field can transmit over fm radio… get a walkman and some headphones maybe?

at this point wouldn’t it just be easier to plug in some wired headphones?

I totally already do - I was simply interested in the novelty as well as the latency info, I thought maybe something changed in tech world

The signal is so bad that I wouldn’t suggest using the FM transmitting feature. Even with the OB-4 right next to the OP-1 Field, there is still a significant amount of noise on every station.

From what I’ve read, there’s no audio out on usb-c. I’ve tried it with some usb-c headphones and it work.

Does that mean a Bluetooth receiver can’t be a usb-c one? Has anyone tried?

Didn’t try but only the WiDi+ 16ms latency would possibly work, but those are $300?? And the above poster who had them didn’t particularly like them.

I don’t think there are any other 16ms wireless headphones

Plus: just use wired headphones man lol I know it’s not always fun to have cables all over but it’s the only want to get true fidelity

I have the aiaiai wireless headphones in the studio and they are amazing. Not sure you can appreciate any latency, Ive been recording with them since they launched and never noticed any
