Bouncing tracks

Hey!

Last night I tried bouncing 3 tracks of drums to a single piece of audio. This was done via the Sampler. It recorded easy enough but sounded
very tinny compared to the original 3 tracks. Is there a way of recording the audio so that it sounds exactly the same before?

You have to remember that any panning information will be lost when you are bouncing audio within the OP1.

I would be tempted to use the white ear. This is my usual recipe for doing that:

(1) select the white ear using shift-mic, then go back to tape and ensure the white ear is armed by pressing mic again
(2) go to master eq and set all sliders to max
(3) go to master drive and “turn off” drive (I do this by just reducing the top param to zero)
(4) switch off any master effect
(5) arrange for a bit of spare tape on the fourth track (if you have three drum tracks that you want to record, that is) and select that track
(6) press record and play to record your three drum tracks to the spare bit of tape on the fourth track
(7) go back to master drive, eq, effects and restore them to whatever they were before

Sounds like a lot of faff when I write it down like that, but bouncing with white ear is pretty useful, so worth getting into the swing of.

oh god, and…

(8) press mic again to turn off the white ear! <-- forgetting this has trashed many a decent track in my early op1 days!

wow thanks for the replies! Will try this tonight!

also - how do i delete the previous (failed) bounced recordings? I dont wanna clog up the memory

just use the tape lift on the tracks you dont want.

You can also record all 4 tracks of tape to the ALBUM (COM) and then resample that to a blank space on one of the tape tracks.
The first steps are the same as @yoof detailed, except you record to ALBUM after step 4. Then with your IN marker on the TAPE set at a blank spot, switch back to ALBUM and press REC and PLAY at the same time.
Getting volume levels where you want them may take some practice, but like most things it gets easier each time.

Forgetting to mute the input has also ruined a few of my earlier tracks, however if used with caution it can be another tool to boost your volume levels without using DRIVE.
