Broken OP-1?

Hey guys, i recenty bought a sencond hand OP-1 in the hopes of getting it back to life again. I bought it spares and repairs off facebook marketplace. It shows that it’s charging and shows that it can charge fully but that’s all it does. Doesn’t turn on a the keys don’t seem to be doing anything either. Hoping to get it back to running again if possible. Thanks in advance

can u shift+com > power on into the boot mode?
would confirm that your power switch is actually flipping over just in case its not
do u hear a lil pop in the speaker when u flip the power switch on?

if its something more then maybe replace dsp board?

Hey, I had similar problems about a year ago. In my case with Og. - OP1.

It was a broken contact of the internal powerswitch located on the connector-PCB underneath the plastic-Lid, downside of OP1.

Connection fell off randomly, then later didn’t turn on at all in my case.

There‘s a great post here in the forum with pictures that shows how to fix that. The internal switch itself is just for the cost of a few cents.

But I would considering this more like a last resort tryout, and before get hand on the hardware, looking for every other possible solution that comes to your mind, first. Could also be battery related.

I have a search on that post and send the link, later.

Hey docshermsticks, Yeah it doesn’t work when i use the shift+com either.
Yeah but i literally have to be un silence to hear it. Unless i’m not hearing that pop an its just the noise i hear when moving the power switch. Is the DSP board the Connector Board or the UI board?
Thanks for the reply

Hey Fab.t. Ahh yeah man that would be grand if you could? Does it require soldering?
I’m hoping its something simple (and cheap) so i can get making some stuff on it soon as
Thanks for the reply

Found it:

It refers to a link on instagram with pictures.

There was also a further discussion on that post somewhere…maybe in the instagram comments.

I remember that those contacts you see in the pictures can easily break when cleaning or touching them, really really easy! One of the four broke in my case…

I also remember that I had to bend them a little to get contact again.

But maybe in your case, if it’s an older, long time unused unit, maybe the reason could just be a flat batterie? You could also try to hook it up on a wall charger for at least a couple of days, maybe it gets him the first kick to start…

The regular (-not power boost) IPhone charger is a good one to charge the battery the right way.

If you hang it on a laptop etc. it charges endlessly without progress and fucks the battery meter.

Cheers mate, you’re a leg end! :call_me_hand:

Nice, exited to hear how it worked out
