It was dawsons music http://www.dawsons.co.uk/ i got it from. They have a little finance calculator so you try different combinations of deposit/interest etc. Custome service was very good, lots of communication. They obviously want to sel stuff, so were very quick to rspond to queries.

Still torn on the issue new or second hand. Advice?

I’ve got more issues with the new one.
The 2nd hand seller I had trust with,he was local, I met him on this site but could meet up in person and view (he lived 4 streets away!)
And if you get 2nd hand you know it’s been road tested with any issues ironed out if it.
This is my experience and I can say OP-1s wear in really well.
The new one is nice and newer but issues still exist from the factory.
(Initially I didn’t want to send it back and just lived with the niggles).

Very good point. I think you convinced me. I’ll make a post in the buy/sell as soon as it is clear that I can go ahead (from the boss).

By the way, now that we are family, I will tell you how I ended up here:
I have a very good friend from university back in Spain that his hobby was creating electronic music using Fast Tracker. A true artist, using the computer´s keyboard for all of them (the manly way!).
We would spend weeks talking about synthesisers and music in general.
Now, fast forward 15 years and we both reconnected via Skype and talked 2 hours about the same thing when I ended up searching for “top synthesisers” and the OP-1 appeared in the list. It was actually the most expensive of them all. I entered the teenage engineering website and saw the PO and how cheap they were and how cool the PO-20 sounded (I love chiptune music) and my friend was daring me to get one and send him samples of whatever music I could get out of it (which I still have not had the time to do).
From TE´s website, I saw 6x POs and I wanted advice on which one to get from “experts”, so I ended up here.
And now, a few weeks later I am getting that expensive synthesiser that I NEVER thought I would get.
Life is wonderful some times.

The TE bug is catchy! I started with the arcade then the robot then op1 haha. Can’t wait til opz and the new operators are announced.
OP-1 is the best. Worth every penny ,just as an instrument.

They got the designing part down, that’s what got me. Look at how purdy the and how frigging nice the UX on it is as well. You rarely have to “fight” it to do what you want, if at all.
The same goes for the POs. The very good quality speaker, the oh so tight layout of the boards, the clean, industrial look but at the same time very organic feel.
On top of that they have the “sound” part of things figured out as well. They probably wouldn’t even have to that much, given all the design “wins”.

Ok, following “instructions” from my wife, I ended up buying a new one, especially for the 2-year warranty.
It is supposed to arrive this coming Monday. Friday would be so much better though…
