Digital artifact.

Hey there.

I looked for topics concerning the digital artifacts.
I create this one as to seek the different artifacts we can find in the machine, and to know if it is specific to mine or not, a normal behavior or not.

Here is a video about the Nitro artifacts. A superb Fx but those artifacts can kill the sound sometimes.

I tried to reproduce but I cannot recreate such artifact.

Any input ? Mic on ?
With nothing playing nor plugged, my Nitro stays perfectly calm.

I can hear that on mine but only if volume is at max and I’m using earbuds, and even then it is very fainty. I’m assuming you need to boost the output A LOT to get something like in that video…

Yep, it is true, I had to boost the volume.

I can also hear it in normal conditions, but honestly, it is more discret than on my video.
I have an input connected but the input is not activated.
Still, I feel it is annoying. Some other effects do this also, like Cwo making a small never ending kind of feedback, Punch sounding very digital, spring reverb that creates a permanent noise.

I’ll make a video with all of this.

The artifact problems were much worse in the past. After a big fuzz over the old ohpeewon forum, TE released an updated that considerably improved things. It is worth noting that the tape may be unafected by this.

Okay. Thanks @punji.

I also noticed that the surround sound of the reverb wasn’t recorded on tape. I feel that this is a shame.

Verified. The noise is there, although I had to boost the sound with 100% drive to hear it.

There are a lot of annoying noises generated by various effects. Honsttly, this one is small potatoes compared to horrible crackling introduced by Punch on some settings and by Phone on all settings. This is a minor artefact that somewhat lowers the overall sound qiality. Those two are deal-brakers. You would not want that crackling in any mix, not even in Glitch or similar genres.

I do hope that TE will spend some time improving these things. I could live without any extra features if the sound quality got better.

Agree, even if extra features would be nice too ^^
