Drum sample playback mode

I’m a little confused about sample playback mode for the Drum section. When importing or sampling, on the sample screen you can change the playback mode between gate, trigger, or loop:

But then in the app on the configuration page, for the overall kit it gives you the option for note style (while holding the track button): retrig, gate, and loop. These seem to be tied to the note length (setting just above it) and also the envelope. No explanation in the app section of the guide:

Testing out different things, it’s still not exactly clear to me… Any help is appreciated.

Okay, sorting through this… Preliminary findings:

On the sample page (hold stop and press record) the options are for individual notes (C, C#, D, etc.) and they are:

arrow = will play as long as note is held, but won’t play past end
arrow with line = one shot to end
loop = will loop if note is held past end, and will one shot to end upon release

On the parameter page, the section on the right (when you hold the track key) refers to notes entered on the sequencer (as opposed to played with the keyboard), with the options differing according to the sample playback style for each note on the sample page:

[arrow]
retrig = will use note length
gate = will use note length
loop = will loop according to the hold setting on the envelope

[arrow with line]
retrig = will use envelope
gate = will use note length and envelope
loop = will loop according to the hold setting on the envelope

[loop]
retrig = will use note length and loop according to the hold setting on envelope
gate = will use note length and envelope
loop = will use note length and loop according to the hold setting on envelope

Again, preliminary findings, so these might not be 100% correct.

Correction for this second one, it does NOT use the envelope.

Also, when you sample into the OP-Z the one shot mode [arrow with line] is the default.

Corrected version, for cutting and pasting:

[arrow]
retrig = will use note length
gate = will use note length
loop = will loop according to the hold setting on the envelope

[arrow with line] (default when sampling into drum sampler)
retrig = will use envelope
gate = will use note length
loop = will loop according to the hold setting on the envelope

[loop]
retrig = will use note length and loop according to the hold setting on envelope
gate = will use note length and envelope
loop = will use note length and loop according to the hold setting on envelope
