Duplicate patches

Whhhhyyyyy is it such a trauma to name/save/switch out/add user patches to Op-1…ugh.

Wanted to name my snapshots, delete some old user patches, add the newly names snapshots in to my user folder.

All seemed like it was OK. But I had a few patches that now were listed twice. I decided maybe best to delete the whole user folder then reboot op and then add all my user patches fresh. I deleted my folder and the OP seemed to do its thing. Except all the files were still listed and op would crash saying ‘not found’ (obviously as I had deleted them).

I added all files again and Now back at where I was in middle of all this. All patches are onboard but some are listed twice. Any ideas how to sort? I can’t factory reset tonight as I don’t have the beta os file as TE installed it during a repair…

Amy help would be great, thanks.

maybe not on point, my memory is kinda hazy but if u deleted the patches on your computer did u also empty your trash bin afterwards but before you ejected the disk?

this happened to me before, and i think that was what fixed it

I avoid this by first deleting the old patches, ejecting the OP-1 drive, connecting it again and then adding the new patches.

Thanks for the idea. I already ejected disk and unplugged cable now tho, would it be worth reconnecting and emptying trash or will that have no effect now? I’ll try tomoro anyway. Thanks again.

Yeah will do that in future. Hoping I’m not going to have to track down the beta install file and factory reset this time… Naming/saving procedure on op sucks pretty hard… Having to go through snapshots and name/describe them all in to a notepad/phone, then transfer to pc, then name them referencing your notes, then transfer back. Then problems like this… Insane that there is zero organisation available onboard. Or at least some decent accompaniment software/app to enable auditioning/Naming patches in a librarian. Lame…hopefully I can get rid of the duplicates without factory reset…
Thanks for the tip for future.

So much hassle to get this sorted. For some reason sometimes I would see ‘Failed to update. Old version kept’ on some patches during the reboot. I then had THREE duplicates of some patches. But not necessarily the one s that had that message…

Managed to get it sorted. I had to delete all, reboot, delete all (duplicates that would reappear by themselves in folder even though I had deleted them the first time), reboot, delete all (again for those patches that had 3 slots), reboot. All good now.

Caveman style naming/saving procedure tho… If the next OS is the final one as some people are speculating, pleeeeease TE include some Kind of onboard administration function. Being reliant on such a flakey communication with outside hardware to do basic things isnt great for future. An open source audition/name/save/import/export librarian seems to make way more sense for future proofing and practicality…

yea you can reconnect it and empty the bin.

what happens on your computer when u delete stuff on a usb disk, it doesn't actually delete it fully, yet it keeps it in your trash bin until you empty it. but when you disconnect your usb drive, the files will disappear from your bin so you can't empty them.

at least this is how it works on my mac. pc might be different? i know that i fixed the issue but it was several years ago so i'm not 100%.
hope this helps

edit: ahh i see you sorted it!
