Endless and Drums

Hey, I’ve been seeing a lot of people using endless for drums, I’m trying here to make it sound alright but I never seem to get the timing right, what time signature is the easiest, where should I put my kicks and snares and how long should the endless run for (in steps that is)?

any help or direction to go at would be much appreciated!

I tend to use endless with jungle breaks that I slice in 8 steps (I use Maschine to do that but it should not matter as long as you have 8 slices of the same length)

Write your own drum grids on paper, that will help you loads looking at them when typing them on the sequencer. Like a cheat sheet. This afternoon I managed to do a 64 step fairly elaborate drum loop following this method, first shot.

See this pic for example:

From bottom to top,
K = kick
K2 = ghost kick
H = hi hat
S = snare

Scribbled square = push
Left blank square = silence (right arrow)

Please do. When I sort of found out or, dare I say, created this method, I couldn’t believe how endless became awesome and accessible. Seriously, make people understand that taking grid notes that way is the key for endless!!!

Here, an example, listen to this beat (drums):

Then look at the top grid on that pic:

BOOM
And that’s a 64 endless sequence by the way :slight_smile:

Hey lefilou, your instagram rocks. Loving all the AV snippets.
