EP sequencer sends every pad as the same MIDI note (root note) — live pad hits are fine

Hi all, I’m trying to record EP-40 (Riddim) patterns into Bitwig as MIDI and have run into something odd. Wondering if anyone else has seen this, or knows a workaround.

Setup: EP-40 connected to a Mac over USB-C. MIDI channel setting is “all” (110). Pads have no MIDI channel assigned in sound edit. I’m watching with Snoize MIDI Monitor.

What I see:

  • When I play the pads by hand, the EP sends the correct note-map notes on ch 1. Pad 4 (closed hat) = note 42, pad 6 (ride) = note 44.

  • When the sequencer plays the same pattern back, every pad comes out as note 60 (C4 in EP naming), ch 1. This is the default root note. The hat and ride are indistinguishable over MIDI, and there are overlapping Note Ons without matching Note Offs.

  • It’s easy to reproduce: clear a pattern, live-record a few hits with MIDI Monitor open, and the first pass shows the right notes. As soon as the loop comes back around, everything is note 60. It sounds correct on the EP itself. Only the MIDI out loses which pad played.

Has anyone else experienced this?
