on my XY, the external instrument is no longer listed as an option in the instruments list… in spite of being able to send midi out to my synth when using the aux-midi track… (currently have a roland S1 connected via usb midi and audio)
the option reappeared after a factory reset… ugh
Any chance you had switched the list to ‘category’ from ‘instrument’ (shift+instrument I think)?
I tried both views…and now it’s gone again after working for a few minutes
fwiw my midi device is listed just fine in the com/devices list…
also tried using the midi-dins on my hydrasynth explorer… I’m able to get midi in and out to the keyboard, but only using the aux midi instrument (or using the hydra to control internal instrument tracks)
external instrument still doesn’t appear as an option.
I don’t want to factory reset my XY every time I want to use a standard track for midi… is there an official place to file bugs like this?
Just to check - while in instrument mode, are you using shift+M1 (1st button under screen) to bring up the list including the external track?
Also, for midi check midi config in your project settings (main screen for your currently loaded project ---->config----> midi).
I think that was the problem… I was using shift-(1, 2, 3…) etc to set the instrument for a track (which does not show external in the list…), but if I select a track first, then use shift-M1 I do see external.
What’s the difference supposed to be in functionality with shift-1, 2, 3…etc, vs shift M1?
probably answering my own question here…I guess shift-[track number] shows presets, while shift-m1 sets the instrument.
…and this is indicated at the far left of the screen which says ‘preset’.
Yep, that’s right and shift+M1 gives you access to the engines. It’s on page 45 of the manual (14, Instrument) if you need it.
This feels like a minor bug - because if I set the view to engines with the encoders - I also don’t see the external. But with shift+m1 - I can see it’s populated. Thanks though
