Field mic problem

Yeah they re all maxxed out, gain on mix snd recording volume on tape and i still get very faint stuff its clearly broken im coping at this point , also my screen apparently has a halo. I noticed urs didnt , sucks too…

I have the same problem going on with my internal mic. The input is extremely low, I have to put the gain up all the way and get really close to the mic for it to pick up anything.

@pantano did you find any more information about this problem?

It seems like this is an easy fix on the original OP-1. By just replacing the I/O board and following the guide on IFIXIT.

Has anyone found a way to open up the OP-1 Field and do this repair themselves? It seems like there is no way to fix this other than sending it to TE. My device was bought used, so no warranty.

Hate to hear but also glad that it wasnt just me because i reaaally take care of it…. I wrote to TE and they replied by telling me to do the Reboot on firmware and make sure it had the latest update… I replied by telling them i had already done that and have been waiting for a reply ever since… i wish the op-1 field had more fixing options because i wouldnt mind covering it myself but its like damn i got it 4 months ago and i already cant use the onboard mic for quick sampling… really sucks

Hey so i got another reply from TE, i am covered by a warranty because i bought it new offf of amazon, apparently they can fix or replace it idk what will happen but they gave me the green light to send it back, now, since you re case is different i think you don’t have warranty but they can still fix it for you at a cost , you can write them an email , go to their support page and tell them that u don’t have warranty but. Are looking to repair the mic at a cost and maybe they will even tell you to send it back for repair at TE… which is the most legit repair u can get. Honestly i didnt use that mic a lot but it was unacceptable for me to have that thing broken 4 months in , and i still used it for quick sampling and unserious experiments with sounds from my desk hahaha

Thanks so much for giving me an update. I’ve contacted TE now, so we’ll see what they say.

Best of luck to you in getting it fixed!
