Finally got an Ipad! What DAW to get?

Wait what are you trying to do now? The Belkin 5-way splitter doesn’t have an audio-in to record into the ipad. The Iphone splitters? I don’t think apple makes such a product. Were you thinking of something like this: http://store.griffintechnology.com/guitarconnect-cable?

I use the Camera Connection Kit and a USB Behringer UFO202 audio interface. Works great. You can use pretty much any USB Audio card, but some may need to be powered to work. The UFO202 uses the iPad/iPhone to power it. I have used it with my iPad2 and iPad mini and iPhone5. (You need the lightning version of the CCK for the newer models)

IRig HD for total portability, or Focusrite iTrack Dock.

LOL! The App Store doesn’t accept Paypal in Canada? What year is this? LOL!

I have to buy iTunes gift cards right??? Guess this will have to wait until tomorrow…

EDIT: I can buy iTunes credits on Paypals digital store, but I can’t just use Paypal to pay for things on the app store… 0.o
Whatever…

You just need to link your credit card to your Apple account. Anything you buy on iTunes just gets charged straight to your credit card, thats the way its always been for me here in Canada.

Am I right in saying that you are trying to use the iPad as your main DAW in place of say a Macbook with audio interface and Live?

^Yeah. I was totally wrong about the belkin thing.

I like the look of the irig but is there anything that’s not a bloated size? I just want to connect an OP-1 to my Ipad (with headphones of course) not a guitar. If I get the irig i’d also have to get a 3.5 to 1/4 adapter. I’d rather have something tuned specifically for line in, but I suppose if I have no choice… I also have a guitar I can use to record with if I’m ever in the mood.

So far I’m just having fun on Cubasis on its own.

The irig has an absolutely ZERO noise floor, and a dedicated dial for adjusting line level. It’s also pretty darn compact. It’s the best option I know of.

Alright I’m going to get a random irig hd off ebay does that sound right? Is it something where I have to worry about buying a knockoff??? Thanks.

the smallest interface I have seen for using OP-1 with the iPad is the Line 6 Sonic Port (original, not VX). It has a 3.5mm stereo input already, too. A bit bigger than the iRig HD but no cable adapting needed.

And damn, I paid $50 or something for my iRig HD, from Amazon. Not seeing those prices, now (it fits better in my bass gig bag in the pocket I needed to put an interface in).

I would recommend something like this. This way you can record in stereo. Need an Apple CCK though.

^Size and form factor is a thing, good to see I have options. Line 6 looks interesting, what’s wrong with the VX?

Nothing wrong with it, it does all my regular one does and has a condensor mic(s) for vocals, but it’s also bigger and twice the price. Just wanted to be sure I specified the one I had is all

I see, I have my own mics that I love using so I have no need for a built in one and the sacrificed size. Thanks. Line 6 looks very good.

Apparently there is an iRig 2: http://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/irig2/
There is also an iRig pro (for midi I believe). I would say the line 6 still takes the edge over the iRig2 for 1/8" stereo input.
