Pretty sweet little combo, especially since both are battery powered and do sync over USB-C. All the synth sounds except for a couple pads are one track of Pluto recorded in one pass live.
Nice job dude
Just wondering how do they exactly do they sync via usb-c? Thanks!
Same as a MIDI cable, you can set the OP-1F to send clock over USB and the Pluto responds to it.
Just to be clear, clock is set to BOTH in OP-1F midi settings, but the Pluto clock (updated firmware) still doesn’t seem to sync. Well, it syncs at first (as you can see the blue light turns on for a second or two), but then the blue light goes out every time. Any thoughts?
Turns to…
in my experience of very persistent and methodical experimentation with op-1f midi clock syncing, ive found that it is not only inconsistent but not particularly stable either, and this includes with other TE gear using only USBC as well as reliable high quality midi hubs.
OK that’s about as good of an answer as I can expect given that I’ve kinda gotten it to connect, but not fully or with any consistency. Cheers!
Honestly this song is the only time I used the two devices together like this, and the sync didn’t need to be perfect. So if it was drifting I wouldn’t have really noticed it. Sorry.
Cool, good to know and yeah, looks like people don’t necessarily always sync them anyway:

yeah i must say i dont often need to sync. nevertheless, it is a shame not to be able to rely on it. whenever im recording something official, i dont rely on midi sync with op1f, i just time it the manual good ol fashioned way.
fwiw, i dont think u want BOTH setting
thats like it sends and receives clock right?
if your other device is also sending clock
or passing the clock its receiving along
(which would go back to the OP1)
u can def get some weird behavior/crashing/etc
having said all that, i too find the OP1 midi sync to be not that reliable when its the sender
i’m still living in an OG OP1 world tho not the field
its pretty good when its the receiver tho imhe
(granted your sender is pretty stable obv)
