Fun with the Xy 2:30 AM freestyle

I just got my XY not that long ago, and i was trying to figure out how to do my normal Boom-Bap thing on it and being that this really isnt a 404 type sampler,i just decided to sit down and freestyle a lil bit with the sounds and MAN this thing is FUN!! it opened up a new dynamic for me. so im not sitting around having to worry about how to chop and arrange samples on this thing. next up is to actually hook it up to my 404 MK2 ans see what can happen. in the meantime, heres the stuff i just did…

this is sick! you should defeintely check out some Dibia$e live streams. He’s figured out how to basically lazy chop on it and give it a Dilla feel. He also incorporates the 404, too!

I was waitin for u to spit thinking we were gonna hear some boom bap xy fire and some lyricism but this was great too

I’m glad to see you clearly enjoying it

What other gear you using? I see you cop the tx6 there. You got the op1, ko2 or opz?

right now i have the SP404 MK2, a FULL SET of Pocket Operators (Heres my 2025 Gear Tour https://youtu.be/TOdk4SqaTd4?si=w-by6qAwYuJE0a9s)

i was a dj for over 30 years, then i retired in 2017 to start beatmaking. i started on Maschine, then moved to the MPC Live2. i didnt like the MPC workflow, so i moved to TE. i had the OP1 and OPZ they want really for me so i got the 404 MK2. and thats where ive been ever since. i got a few obscure things that I find cool.

since i started beatmaking ive been a part of the WU-Family (Started as a WU DJ) im a part of a few groups and worked on quite a few projects. i wound up starting my own label, production company, publishing company and promo company. scored a movie. my day job is as a label/ artist consultant ive written 4 Amazon best selling books and in the last 3 years ive made 3 Grammy first ballots. so im staying busy. but at the same time im having FUN and at the end of the day thats what its all about for me…

Crazy doggz
Rza is what started me off with hip hop production interests and what still makes me want to produce stuff (I doubt meth remembers me but we crossed paths, and he digs my homie Jaze Juice , did couple tracks with him , too - my fam get down the Lox, and back in the day with Big [“chillin wit da arabics on Farragut”) -

Son Wu knows, haha ya heard (big up son wu) tho I don’t get todays hip hop man, I’m from DMX , the Lox, Dipset etc used to be local dudes we all loved but knew too, so you know I’m a little spoiled going from the beginning of the golden era (Eric b and rakim, to Wu and Big, da infamous mob, onyx,to the Lox and X) I’m a little spoiled u know ?

Anyway I’d be interested to hear some stuff maybe send me some links or SoundCloud or bandcamp kr whatever b

im in the same boat (im 51. been there since day one. Brooklyn Born and bred) heres my website https://www.bigbossbeatz.com/
