Help really needed on Looping on OP-1

Im just beginning to learn the looping on the OP-1. I have encountered a problem.

When i record a track(Track 1) for say 2 bars, Then set loop in and out to create the loop on that track
Then i go to track 2 and do a melody say for 8 bars from the beginning of tape. The loop stops the tape from progressing past 2 bars so both track repeat. I read that shift > moves it onto the next bar on playback. okay yes. or i can press S3 to cancel loop. this is my problem I want to keep the loop going AND the melody and maybe track 3 and 4. Why cant i have the loop just apply to ONE track? Is it only possible through LIVE playback? Thanks

Oh and if i cancel the loop during playback with shift> i lose the first loop altogether. When is see DJ Thomas White video he only uses 2 bars for his track. I want to do 32-64 bars with multiple loops coming in and out.

Sorry bad English. I meant the only way for the track to progress past 2 bars is Shift> which loses the 2 bar loop on track 1 which i dont want to lose

Copy the 2 bar loop as long as you want it to play. You can’t loop sections of each track independently, it’s supposed to mimic tape.

Ah thank Anfim. So each time i want a new loop i lift and drop the old one or create a new one as the track progresses. The mimmicking tape makes sense. I didn’t think of that. Can i ask then is the OP-1 loop better in live play and if i’m not doing Live play i don’t need it?

But this would be a good feature being able to loop diffrent section at a time, especially for live!

Yea i understand live looping its a great feature mixrasta. As it makes it interactive and FUN. So much to learn  Im a bit out of my depth at the moment. I’m only used to sheet music.

I have used the OP-1 to play back prepared audio loops, alternating between Track 1 and Track 2, in live performance.

However, as already stated, I don’t think Tape will work for playing loops on both Track 1 and Track 2 independently, as you have described. There are lots of looping/audio clip playing things you can easily do in Ableton Live that you cannot do with OP-1 Tape, because, well, it’s a tape!

If each of your loops is under 12 seconds in length, you could try creating a “drum kit” of your loops in the drum sampler.
