How to bypass EP-133 audio output through an OP-1 Field?

Hi all,

Sorry for the noobish question as I’m sure this is entirely possible. I’m setting up a dawless rig for the first time with an Empress Zoia. The Zoia only has two channel inputs, left and right, so I’m planning on outputting stereo audio from the Field split into the two channels of the Zoia.

I was curious if you can bypass the EP-133 audio so the audio essentially plays out of the Field, that way you can chain both of the instruments and output into the Zoia. Just so they can all go into my audio interface.

I figure the alternative would just be to sample the EP on the Field, which is entirely doable as well.

I’m probably overthinking this too much, hahah.

If you connected the EP-133’s 3.5mm output to the Field’s 3.5mm input, the easiest way is probably to pass the audio by selecting the Line input and hitting the microphone button to enable the input.

That can get tricky, though, since the input turns off when you go into some menus.

The slightly more robust approach would probably be to load up a Vocoder patch with FX off and Mix turned all the way off. This will also pass the audio through and won’t disable audio input as frequently. You do lose the ability to play another instrument on the OP-1 in the meantime, though.

In either approach, you’ll also have to be aware of things like track volume. For instance, if you have a muted track selected you won’t be able to hear the audio input, and if you have a panned track selected the audio input will be panned (I think; you may need to test this).
