I have never used the 3.5 mm stereo input of OP-1F. But now when I updated firmware and the Amp showed up, I really would like to plug in my guitar. How can I do that? Can I do it using only a single cable TS (Mono) 6.3 mm to 3.5 mm? Or do I need some kind of preamp inbetween? If I need a preamp, is there any simple battery powered one that you could recommend (AA or AAA battery)?
hey! you can just plug it directly into the line in with the TS mono cable you mentioned. no need for preamp. you can also buy a converter attachment that takes the guitar cable and converts it into 3.5mm. on the op1f input page, just twist the ochre encoder until it says “mono” and you’ll get the full signal.
i recorded an entire album with guitar plugged directly into the op1f without anything in between and it sounds awesome especially with the effects!

And, having bought a cable now and tested it, I was pleasantly surprised by how good it actually is! The sounds you can get feel like a classic OP-1 mix of “good” and “unexpected and fun”. I’ll definitely be playing more with this in the future!
The only thing missing now in the OP-1 is some kind of autotune-ish plugin to reduce the pain of my singing 
If TE ever adds that, I’ll be in workflow heaven!

there is the vocoder engine which is def not the same as autotune but can certainly help things along. the po-35 has autotune but its very lofi and would not satisfy all genres.

Oh, interesting. I think I must have missed something. There’s a new firmware update for the OP-1F that lets you connect a guitar right to the device? I had been connecting it via my mixer before. Where can I learn more?

After you install the update you’ll find the amp emulation at the top of the synth section.

the amp is a great addition! however you have always been able to connect the guitar directly into the op1f using the vocoder engine with dry mix set to 100%!
