Feels like something that should perhaps be obvious (given I can’t find any other documentation/discussion on the web of how to do it), but how exactly do you select the channels of a multi- channel USB audio source for the OP-1 field? The (now fairly old) update 1.5.6 included the “option for selecting input channel(s) on usb audio”, but when connected via USB-C to a TP-7 with multi-track audio playing the OP-1 field (updated to the current version 1.6.5) does not present me with an obvious option when selecting the USB audio from the input selection screen. I thought the ochre encoder would do something here, but it does not do anything–despite that this should mirror the instructions available for how to do this on the op-xy.

You’re correct that the ochre encoder should select which mono or stereo USB input your OP-1f receives. Once connected, the text below the USB input will change to something like “USB 1+2” if it supports multichannel. If the OP-1f doesn’t detect multiple channels it’ll only say “USB” below the input.
Note: OP-1f’s multichannel function doesn’t work with all USB audio so there’s a chance that’s the issue.
Yea, thanks for the sanity check, and yea, because it only says “USB” below the icon, I guess I have to conclude the OP-1f is not detecting multiple channels, despite that I tested this on the TP-7 both against a recording with manually created multiple channels/tracks, as well as, creating a recording with the TP-7 that was fed both tracks simultaneously from the multi-channel USB audio output from the OP-1f (and so I can fully confirm on the TP-7 that the audio source has multi-channels/tracks). Selecting channels from multi-track audio from TP-7 should be a thing that works–so I guess I will file a bug with the TE team.
The TE team replied with the following:
On the OP–1f, it is possible to select the usb input only when the [OP-1F] is recognised as a host. When you connect it with the TP–7, the recorder is always the host, and that’s why you can’t select the input.
We are planning to add this feature in the future! Unfortunately, we don’t have a defined timeline yet.
But I suppose the above message from TE should not stop anyone from submitting a feature request to help them prioritize the feature!
Hey, short side question inbetween: Is it possible with OP-1f to send multichannel stems out, but receive aswell? Like multichannel tracking on OP1f ?
Cheers

receive not yet supported AFAIK
Well, I suppose you have to separate out a couple of possible interpretations of your question:
- For the simplest interpretation of your words, perhaps you are asking whether multichannel output and multichannel input is possible, and the answer is no. As djcuvcuv attempted to point out, multichannel receive is not supported and probably won’t be for a good bit (if ever).
- If you were asking if both multichannel output and normal [single channel] input can happen at the same time, the answer generally is yes.
- Lastly, if you were asking if the OP-1F can send multichannel output and receive input audio without feedback so that it might be generally regarded as acceptable for tracking that (single channel of) incoming audio, the answer is mostly yes. The OP-1f should be set to the 8CH mode and not the 10CH USB audio output mode, in order to prevent a feedback loop from entering the main mix. Of course, the secondary device you are sending to must be ready for that multichannel audio, and, if that secondary device can output multichannel audio itself, then hopefully that device allows the OP-1F to be the USB host so that the OP-1f can select which single channels of the multi-channel input it will take.
