Hi! So, I had a very reliable way to record my stuff from my TE gear into my phone. I used audio out from synth, into a splitter for separate monitoring, into a line level adjuster, into a lightning port adapter and then I would just get the synth audio when I filmed on my phone.
I got a new phone with usb C recently and now the sound is terrible. What do I need to do? Is it the trs to usb c that’s bad? I have all these new tunes on the XY that I want to record but I’m sort of an idiot when it comes to the tech side.
Anyone know how to get this done? Is there a simpler way these days? Thanks!
Not sure what phone you are using… so the answer might change…
but if you’re using USB C to TRS… you’re probably actually using TRRS (headphone left/right, microphone, and ground)…
and the thing to know… is the TE gear is likely outputting line level… and microphone level is much lower than line level… which will very likely sound distorted and blasted out…
now if you’re using an XY… your best bet is to go USB-C to USB-C… this will get you digital audio between the two devices, and should sound much better.
Cool! Yeah, I have an iPhone 16 with usb c. I guess I’ll try this, but if I just use usb audio, will it “hijack” the iPhone camera’s sound like I want it to? That’s been the best way to make videos of my tunes for me.
