Hey everyone, I’ve been building an iPhone/iPad/MacOS app for the EP series called PunchKit and figured this might be a good place to share it.
Here’s a (not so quick
) walkthrough of the recent v1.6: https://youtu.be/XOTinMGxuXI?si=T0-YVheIF2MNg-EA
The basic idea is to keep the hardware workflow, but make some of the boring or fragile parts easier.
You can connect your EP to an iPhone/iPad/MacOS and:
-
Record USB audio takes directly from the device
-
Play, scrub, loop, trim, export, and share recordings
-
Use “Punch It” to perform and bake live effects into a take (recording)
-
Apply filters, distortion, lo-fi, space, motion, and other effects
-
Send processed audio back to pads or the sample library
-
Split recordings into stems and mix/export the results
-
Browse projects, pads, and samples on the device
-
Back up individual banks, projects, or the whole device, including sounds
-
Restore backups when moving between projects or sessions
-
…and more
It’s not trying to replace the KO II. It’s more of a companion for capturing ideas, resampling quickly, experimenting with effects, and keeping a safer archive of your projects instead of having everything live only on the device.
Some of the recorder and effects features also work with the OP-1 and other USB Class Compliant audio devices, so you can try that part even without an EP connected.

Would love to hear feedback from other EP users, especially around the take workflow, Punch It effects, stem separation, backups, and anything else you’d want from a phone-based companion app.
Cheers and have a nice weekend! ![]()

p.s. currently not coming to Android anytime soon. I’ve been investing time on the port, but it’s not as straightforward as one might think, so I cannot offer any timelines at this point.
