Infinite audio: a new loop-based platform for musicians

Hello all! First time poster, but this community has been a staple resource for me since getting my OP-1 a couple of years ago.

I wanted to share a tool, infinite.audio, that I’ve been working on for the last half-year that I think folks in this forum might also enjoy. It’s a web-based looper inspired by Loopy Pro and the way I make music on the OP-1 that allows for direct recording, sharing, and mixing of songs. As the name might imply, it also incorporates an “auto-mixer”, which can dynamically change what’s playing at a given moment based on song structure, energy levels of the loop, and how recently a given loop was played, allowing for a near-unlimited amount of time of playback without the song getting boring.

The tool is 100% free for artists, and 50% of listener subscriptions go back to the musicians creating with infinite audio.

What you can do now

  • Record or upload loop-based clips
  • Organize a song into parts (i.e. verse / chorus) and groups (i.e. instruments), each with their own set of options when it comes to auto-mixing
  • Keep a library of one-shots that can be inserted into the song automatically at appropriate cadences
  • Share songs, either publicly or via an unlisted link
  • Generate an infinite version of any song, via the auto-mixer
  • Create set lists that allow for smooth transitions between songs, either manually or through the auto-mixer
  • Apply basic effects to song playback as an artist or as a listener
  • Combine live-mixing with live-recording in the performance mode

What’s on the roadmap

  • Pre-arranged mixes, so you can set up specific starting sequences, ending sequences, or the way the entire song should play
  • Dedicated mobile and desktop apps that also support offline creation
  • Collaborative songs, so you can create with other artists on infinite audio (and both get monetarily recognized for your work)
  • Auto-set-lists based on tags, artists, and recency
  • More audio manipulation available in the tool itself (clipping, offsets, key / tempo changes, etc.)
  • A broader spectrum of effects and the ability to automix those effects in
  • (Maybe direct MIDI integration & music theory support, e.g. arpeggiating, chords, etc – this is something I wouldn’t use much, but I’d be interested to hear whether others would find this useful)

If you do end up using the tool, I’d love to hear feedback and suggestions. At this point, I create almost exclusively through infinite audio, but it’s recent that other folks are starting to add their own music to the tool. I’m excited to be able to expand more of the capabilities depending on what folks find lacking (though as of right now, this is a side project, so I may have some delays in fixes / features).

Looking forward to any feedback!

These are a few of my favorite creations, if you want to see the automixer at work (just hit play):

qi opus 2, OP-1 combined with the Qi Etherealizer pedal to create an ethereal, bass-driven vibe.

cheerful village, a chirpy nature-filled soundtrack, inspired by games like Stardew Valley.

squiggly, samples from Dropout TV’s Make Some Noise, overlaid on a chip-tune beat.

summer haze, Natural Instruments samples arranged into a lofi vaporwave track.
