Is my LFO broken?

It’s taken me a while to work out that maybe something’s not quite right with my LFO…

The manual says (when triangle LFO controlling square oscillator) “you should hear the pitch slowly rising and falling”, but for 99% of the range I get either a high pitch scream or what appears to be an EXTREMELY slow oscillation… In the remaining 1% I get what I expect an LFO to do, but it’s sooo fiddly to find it, adjusting withing the 1% practically impossible, and if I even look at the knob again it gets knocked back to ‘Scream’.

This isn’t right, right? Would be grateful for your thoughts before I shell out for a replacement.

Thanks,
Rick

That’s the way it works. I actually find it fascinating. It’s so easy to get FM artifacts, and so many of them that I love it!

Yep. That’s how it works, I guess, but…

Does anyone know if there are trim screws on the LFO or filter (there’s one on the square oscillator) that can dial down the extreme behavior of the knobs on those modules?

I had to take apart the unit and trim my oscillator using a little screw on the front of the module in order to get it to play in tune across all the octaves. It was a revelation. It’d be interesting if there were similar opportunities for the LFO and filter (making the ranges of the knobs more gentle).

I was in touch with TE to see if there were instructions. They responded, saying that there weren’t instructions per se, but they could help if they knew which revision of the modules I was working with. It took a while to hear back, so I had already figured out the oscillator myself and re-assembled everything. And “one does not simply” take that thing all apart again just to see if there’s a trim on those other modules.

Anyone?
