it’s so ridiculously trivial to adjust micro-timing on the DT. and fast.
i wish i could afford an SP1200
Can you play into the DT (i.e. finger-drumming) without any input quantisation? Or does micro-timing on elektron gear only work post-quantise? It’s one of the things I love about OP1, whatever I play into the tape is exactly what comes back out when it loops around

you can switch between quantised and unquantised live record. quoting from manual:
Trigs input in LIVE RECORDING mode can be automatically quantized or not. Non-quantized trigs can be quantized after they are recorded, by using the QUANTIZE menu

THANKS for your HELP!
Have you considered an Octatrack?
The Toraiz is getting my attention. Seems like lots of improvements in the recent OS. Most importantly it sounds pretty amazing with the analog filter/over drive. I bet it could sound very gritty and sweet. Bit annoying that YT is full of EDM demos.
Nice bit of dnb tho

Yes but I’m more attracted to the DT for some reason.
The thing that puts me off Elektron in general is the sound. I used to own an Octatrack and MPC 60 and the 60 had far more ‘ummphh’ when comparing the same sample on both. The kick would sound a hell of a lot fuller. Thats my main gripe with modern samplers - they offer all the bells and whistles but fundamentally sound weak compared to the older (and more primitive) ones. I guess a Digitakt and Analog Heat might get you further

Good point there, I have a Strymon Deco which could fit the bill if needed. Sooooo looking forward…

The DT sounds a lot better than the OT in my opinion.

How would you compare the DT and the OP?
To me the DA converters on the DT are much better than the OP-1s. E.g. the OP-1 sounds a bit thin - I always want to copy the tape to the DAW in the digital domain. With the DT and since overbridge is not yet available going through the analog outs is the only option. But it sounds excellent. Of course dont expect coloration/saturation of sound as in e.g. old MPCs

Thanks for clarifying and for your demo, really liked it!
one pretty valid criticism towards the Digitakt is the lack of a built-in output compressor. That said, between track-level, sample volume, trig volume, drive, bit depth, pitch, and filter resonance options, there’s so much sound-shaping and gain-staging possible that I can’t see how “hasn’t got oomph” applies to the DT.
Well give us a good example of DT umph
Out for delivery.
Oh dear.
Well give us a good example of DT umph
“good” is subjective. even without it, i could say give us an example of the umph you’re after?
Out for delivery
Those three little words!

haha yes!
Well it just arrived, checked that it turns on and straight the bag.
Now a loooooong afternoon at work awaits…
