Is the Digitakt my next machine?

A DT, OP-1 and a few iOS apps and you are good to go on a neat small footprint system.

I have a lot of samplers and sample-manglers including both an Octatrack and an Analog Rytm, so I wasn’t sure if the Digitakt would be redundant. Technically, maybe it is, but it’s a keeper on the basis of workflow alone. It’s so fast to get some patterns going on it that it seems like an ‘instant inspiration machine’. I’m really glad I resisted my common sense and bought the thing.

@lefilou great video man! Did you finger-play the drums in? They sound nice and loooooose (just how I like them). How do the new elektron buttons feel for finger-drumming?

Hey @millbastard, like @hangar64 said, no finger drumming if you bring more than 1 sample on 1 track, which was the case for this beat. But still plenty of fun to be had.

Dam you!! Trying so hard to stay away from this thing(not the beer, that's just crazy). Sounds awesome!

Thanks, love it. It’s just different than the OP-1. So far, Id say less direct plug and play fun… but more elaborate beatmaking possibilities and a bigger sound overall. Which I was missing with the OP.

Is it possible to use one sample on one track but with slices of different areas and still finger drum?

Also how long am I allowed for each sample per track?

If you want to finger drum, you have to have different samples, or start points of the same sample (basically slicing) on different tracks. Think of each track as the synth sampler of the OP1 (not the drum sampler). It's not slicing... it's pick a start point, and then pitched across notes.
