Midi control for Pocket Operator

This is just for fun - I made a little gadget to add midi to a Pocket Operator a while ago and finally put it in a box.

Here’s what it’s got:

1. USB Midi which lets you connect it to your computer/Ableton/iPhone and send sequenced midi notes to the PO or from a controller connected to the computer

2. USB Host to connect a midi keyboard/OP-1 direct to a PO without a computer

3. A multi-mode Arpeggiator which creates arpeggios from a midi keyboard plugged in to the USB host

You need to solder some wires to the PO for it to work but there’s no damage to the PO and you can play it normally just fine also.

The video shows the step sequencer app Xynthesizr playing the PO14 from an iPhone.

It’s fairly easy to make, if any DIYers would like details just shout out.

Cheers, Paul

Dude, that’s so nifty!

Salutes to you for making this neat box - I bet that PO owners are pretty envy right now :3

This is awesome, well done! So, what’s inside the box?

thanks @kotlasu @vehka - the apr is the best fun bit of it, I’ll need to get a video of it…

What’s in the box? - a Teensy micro controller and a Hobbytonics USB host, don’t have schematics but happy to share details off-line with anyone interested

Thanks @johnnyego - this one’s just for fun. I’m from the UK (Scotland)

amazing! I would be interested in adding this mod to my arcade po12 seeing as the cables are already soldered

A quick (crappy) video of the arp playing the PO (micro drum at 2:00) with a Korg Nanokeys and a usb battery plugged in.
