Multi-out issue & correct way to connect to external synth/modulators/etc

I love my OPXY. I have a basic understanding of midi.

I have a korg nts-1 mkii, a Lemondrop, and a Soniccake pocket master (initially meant for guitar as I do play the guitar and some other instruments).

I have tried to connect the OPXY to each of those external units, and if we ignore the pocket master, I was hoping that I might be able to loop to the Lemondrop and/or the Korg, and loop back in modulated tracks.

I am not sure if I am trying to do something which can’t be done, or I am just not doing it right, but I have experienced v poor results so far.

  1. It seems that the multi output never works for me, regardless of the output, MIDI, Audio etc. Not sure why but it just does not work

  2. I was able to connect to the korg via audio out on the opxy and in the korg, which works fine if I plug in a headset in the korg as obviously using the opxy audio out, but whatever modulation I add, does not get recorded as it just uses the audio out which makes sense.
What should be the correct way to do it, if it is possible at all? The idea is that each track as modulated can be recorded within the opxy)

  3. Using the same basic setup does not wok at all on the Lemondrop, and trying to connect the opxy does not seem to be better

I am ready to take that I am doing stupid things here of course, but I would like to understand and asses if I can do what I am trying to do, and what would be the right wat to do so.

Some of you might use the same external gear, or similar and it would be great to understand how you do it.

I also have the TX-6 which I would be keen to throw into the mix (literally!)

Many thanks

There is a bug at play for me and this might be your issue. Others here helped to point it out to me. If something is plugged into MIDI in, it will not send MIDI out.

For me the fix is to use MIDI DIN and not USB–I can’t ever get USB to work for sending out MIDI. Leave your MIDI in cable plugged in as long as you need to input midi data or send clock, etc. When you are done recording, unplug the MIDI in cable, turn XY off and back on, then push play. It works as intended for me then–I can send MIDI out to any synth via whatever channel I’ve selected to mirror the XY’s tracks.

But… the minute I plug the MIDI in cable again, it stops sending MIDI out.

This “fix” doesn’t help me if I want the XY to receive MIDI clock AND ALSO send MIDI out, obviously, which is a drag, and something I hope they address soon.
