Must have accessories for the OP-1 Field?

Hi all! New to the TE family. I have an OP-1 Field on the way (along with a KO2 that it bundled with) and I’m just curious what sort of accessories people recommend as must-haves. I know the original OP-1 had a big accessory market with all kinds of knobs and accessories but I’m not seeing as much for the field, so I’m curious if people know of any that are super essential for their Field.

A case/decksaver is a good idea. Other than that it starts to get into a lot of various things… the headphone/line jack has a TRRS connection so you can get headsets with a microphone which is fancy, a selection of USB and 1/8" cables for connectivity is important…

you’ll really want a computer (or maybe android device) as you cannot mount the drive without something that supports the android mounting setup… iPads/iPhones are a no go here (for now or forever?)… though a phone/tablet does give you plenty of sound/synth/fx options… so more than makes up for this…

Especially with the latest firmware, the OP-1 Field pairs much better as a USB audio/midi host… so you’ll find devices like the OP-Z, SP404 mk2, Dirtywave M8… and many many more will work quite nicely with audio and midi… basically if the device offers class compliant audio and/or midi… the OP-1 ought to be able to mount it… and the OP-1 is pretty good at determining when it should be a class compliant audio/midi device itself… so you kind of get the best of both worlds when it is behaving.

If you have an iPhone or lightning iPad, you’ll need the camera kit to USB cable… I haven’t gotten any lightning to USB cables to work… though theoretically if they have the right internal parts it could work.

Much beyond that… it’s going to get more into specifics for what and how you might like to work…

Good luck and have fun!

I’ve gotten so excited I’ve already been seeking out samples I wanna chop up in the OP-1 hahah. I have a good desktop setup with Studio One thankfully so I’ve got the hardware side of things worked out! I’m sure it can integrate okay with my Samsung phone as well. I wish the KO2 supported USB audio as it seems like you need to work around with it a bit to play well with the OP-1F from what I’ve seen.
So far accessories wise, I got a decent case, a cover, and a fuzzy internal microphone pop filter.

If you’re going to use it with the EP-133. pick up a handful of stereo audio cables too (length to your choice, of course) so that you can sync and things.

The Decksaver @NearTao suggests is a good idea. I have that and a case, b/c mine goes nearly everywhere with me.

Samsung phone should work fine. I haven’t tried it in the last year or so, but haven’t heard otherwise. With USB audio, you can play YouTube on the phone and sample on the OP-1F, probably (although I haven’t tried).

You’ll have fun!!

Cables:

  • dual mono 1/4” to stereo 1/8” cables (for hooking up to interfaces and amps)
  • stereo 1/8” cables and stereo 1/8” splitter (for a lot including PO sync)
  • usb c to usb c cables
(I forgot if it’s included but you can always use one or two more and not freak when you don’t find one)

Another vote for decksaver and Analog case, really like mine. I’d also recommend the dead kitten Novak the Enjoyer has for sale, great for cutting down wind if you want to record or sample outside:

There’s one for the OG-1 too.

Agree on decksaver and Analog case - I have decksavers for both my og op-1 and field. I have the Analog Cases case for the og. I think I prefer the white TE field case though - it came for free with the field and the decksaver fits in nicely - the main issue is that it is looking pretty grubby now! It’s surprisingly very protective given the padding but only if you use a decksaver with it…
Oh - one of the 3.5mm audio isolators is handy to reduce ground noise - looks like TE rebadge a (cheap) isolator - I got mine from Amazon. I also have a nucleum usb-c hub which is useful too…

Yes get a pair of ground loop noise isolators - one for input , one for output : or just an extra one …. ( get the Amazon ones because TE charges like quadruple for them)
