Can you buy just the ā€œtingā€ separately?

Yes you can. In the UK it’s Ā£59.00

Hey, howā€˜d you describe the Main difference between new EP an d EP-133 K.O.?

Hi. I’ve ordered mine last night but not got it yet.
Despite my comment in another thread when it was leaked saying it looked hideous  The videos changed my mind.

I’ve got the KO2/EP133 and I’d say the 3
main differences are more memory (128mb vs 64mb), the sample looper and the built in synth.

Whether TE will add the synth and the sample looping features to the EP133 remains to be seen.

I can’t imagine them doing this as this would take away the USP of the new EP.

i totally missed that!

two other differences are the live mode (lets you disable controls you dont wanna hit by mistake) and the ā€œturntable styleā€ global tempo where speed & pitch are linked

Well spotted. I’ll be watching the videos again whilst I wait for it to arrive.

Yup, loop to key and the pitch change in live mode are definitely enough for me. Super cool features.

Anyone else having trouble updating the ting?

great demo here

Yep. Couldnt work it out until I realised that by ā€œhold the handleā€ they meant squeeze the long side button. I’d assumed they’d meant the clip at the back, which was confusing. But anyhow, the thing wont switch on without that being held down, it appears.

So squeezed that long button. Double clicked the little button above the USB port. A pop up popped up asking if I wanted to connect a peripheral and I was on my way.

In my finder window confusingly two disks pop up. One of which is the disk space for the samples, called Ting something or other. Ignore that, it doesnt have the space to allow the upgrade to be dragged into it.

The other disk where you need to drop the updatewassnt called Ting Boot as claimed to in the documentation. It was just some random character string starting with an R on mine. Anyhow I unzipped the updater and dragged the relevant file across into it, it clearly was the right place to drop it and the device updated after a pause.

After it updated, the boot disk when connecting again was renamed correctly to ā€œTing Bootā€, which may help in the future.

A bit of a faff, but not that much of a faff.

For the curistas out there - with ting connected using USB to my mac I was able to get a micropython terminal connection with this command line:

screen /dev/tty.usbmodemEPTXL35Y1 115200

Ah! Thanks for the clarification =) worked like a charm

I cant seem to find the ā€œtingā€ sold separately on the TE site… I live in the states, but im not sure if that makes a difference.

It’s odd. I’ve checked out TE’s site and you’re right, no sign of it being sold separately. Gear4Music in the UK seems to be the only one selling it separately at the moment. Although they would ship to the U.S, you’d probably be better waiting till shops over there stock it as shipping would bump up the price.

I’m buying the EP-40 which is coming bundled with the Ting for a limited time in the UK.

Perhaps seeing as they’ve sold out of their bundles which include it, they must be waiting for more to arrive. They should have it to buy separately then.

Picked up the limited edition set on Tuesday. That’s all they had in stock- the set. Haven’t seen any retailers selling just one or the other.
