New KORG Volca & Electribe

With you Virtual Flannel, it’s the ‘bounce to ableton’ on the electribes and gadget that make me want to get a new ipad (mines is a gen1) and sell the OP-1 :frowning:

@spacetravelmadeeasy def not thinking about selling the OP-1!!! Think they would make a great combo. Has me thinking about trying to make more money lol!!!

They were going to announce another really cool (imo) product, but had to push it back. That's all I can say on that ; )

So a new Monotribe in the form factor of these two new electribes! Sweet!!!

TBH when I thought of what a Teenage Engineering Drum Pad Machine would be like, this is pretty close.

Hells. Yes.

So stoked for a new Electribe! seems so long to wait though!

Okay Roland, please follow suit with an updated 505 or shrunken 909 :)

^ u know they will do like the complete opposite of that >.<

True! Unfortunate, but true. An accordion MIDI controller is more likely…

ooooh an accordion midi controller would be dope!

accordion styled sampler organ vocoder ftw!!!

I just checked Korg’s Japanese website and the Electribe comes in Nov. But the sampler version is still being advertised as (early)2015. oh and volca sample; October. This is fine for me bc I can’t really afford it for a few months anyways.

I have a few questions myself, like will it sequence midi on 16 channels? Will there be presets (i.e. projects) that allow us more patterns and sample spots? I mean there MUST be. 270 mins is the ram right? the sd card up to 32 gb would be absolutely worthless otherwise. Also, since they both have the same synth engine, what sets these two apart? Will the filters and pcm sounds actually set them apart that much? My guess is the sampler version will cost more.

O sheet Korg Gadget for IOS just got an update adding 2 new in app purchases. First is a sampler second is a loop slicer(sounds the same) anyhoo Korg keeps KILLING IT!!! ALSO LANDSCAPE AND MIDI LEARN!!!

oh yeah and for you goobers out there; Miku stomp: October!

and about ¥13,000.

the sampler version only has three filter types (vs 16 in the synth electribe, boooooo…), and does not have the PCM waves, just the dsp synth side.

if they’re like the older electribes, MIDI sequencing eats into the existing tracks/parts, that’d be unfortunate but not a deal breaker

jbl, I believe it's 270 seconds. And I think that's about the same as the esx-1. Huge suck there. Would have been great to be able to fire off full tracks from it.. still though, being able to freely assign synth/sample/drum per part is big. wonder what the poly per part is??

my wickedest wicked of all wicked would be a v-synth in a groovebox…

that’s 270 seconds mono btw

Octatrack: u mad? trollface

nothing is being said at all about MIDI sequencing and that concerns me. Surely Korg wouldn’t do us that way after so much win?

Right? No midi ext. seq=no buy for me.

I knew it was 270 sec mono: typo much? I guess shouldn’t surf so much at work.
But could the esx hold multiple projects?
If the new one can’t, what’s the point of even 1gb of sd card really?
I mean 2:20 mins stereo at 48kz is way less than 128mb!

Pretty sure the sequencers output MIDI - I mean even the Volcas do if you solder the MIDI out. Sequencers (digital) without midi note out is an Elektron exclusive…

on the older ones, for example the EMX, you have 5 synth parts and 9 drums. you lose synth parts for each external synth you want to control.

it looks like poly per part is 4, with a max of 24 voices depending on oscillator, filter, and insert fx settings.

Lots of great iPad apps, including Korg’s own Gadget, but you might miss all the stuff that makes the OP-1 special (physical knobs, physical buttons, tape tricks, the sequencers, etc.).

Call me any name you want but I want one, and I’ll even put up with converting every English syllable to Romaji so can I can enter custom lyrics like “War Ensemble”. I see a UK store is selling it for 109 pounds - hoping it’ll make its way to Amurrica too.
