New OP-Z Footage!

I hope its coming soon!!

It should be presented in Musikmesse or Superbooth.

Do you know if they are present in one of these shows?
Ok, I was wrong... It looks like it comes in and much less good case. But at least it's protected looking https://www.instagram.com/p/Bgnwd-IFzUB/

But the H key needs to be fixed first, it sideways!! (joking)

I think that is the packaging. No fancy case included.

4 posts above yours
That ‘case’ looks like a (paper) box it (will probrably) ship in.
Still good to see new footage coming in!

Swedish retailer 4Sound is now taking pre-orders at 733 $…

Probably better to see this price in a European setting so around the 600 euro price range.

Lucky Americans get it for 600 dollars.

@ronsun any mention from them when it might ship?

$ayyyy 600 is to much for me. I cant justify having both an Op1 and an Opz at those prices. shame. maybe ill pick one up in the future on sale.

Waiting for more details and vids but yeah, that feels like a really heavy price for a tv remote sized box without a screen.

I thought not having a screen was supposed to be to keep the price down?? At that price it seems like it should have a little screen…Having to pair with a phone or tablet for a display is a pretty big compromise for something supposedly ‘portable’ or convenient. Obvs you can use it withot a screen but stuff like browsing samples etc with no screen is going to be ridiculous…

Anyone know if there’s a way to record/export individual stems?

Are the tracks flexible? Like can I have samples on all tracks? Or is fixed synth type per track?

@Callofthevoid , none of your questions are known and for me they are very important questions. My concern is only one track will have samples. If it is possible to have samples on more than one track that would be a massive plus for me.

I’ve no idea, but I understood the tracks to be fixed. Might be way out though.

16 tracks of synths would be great too.

yes. press blurb says 'mid february'.... ;-)
but, no new real info on shipping.

There’s probably new unannounced features that will justify the price. 600 euros for the stuff that @cuckoo showed a year ago in the preview is a bit steep. I’ve said this before, but TE’s Achilles heel is poor connectivity. If they nail that aspect down well (good MIDI implementation, multiple CV tracks, line in sampling), it starts to sound attractive to me at that price point. But at the moment, my GAS for it is considerably cooled. =)

I understood the same: the tracks are fixed. So this seems there is only 1 sample track. But the strangest thng is that this would mean only 1 Midi track also, not very reasonable

Yeah hopefully this’ll be their first box that integrates super easy without extra boxes/cables etc.

Imho TE’s achilles heel is they seem to kind of brush a bunch of ‘real’ workflow/hardware issues under the carpet, being slightly too fashion/creative focused over function. Best and worst thing about the company…

Things like not being able to name or delete patches on op1. The op1 internals not being shielded enough to be able to record from line in to tape without a ton of CPU noise. No din midi. The op-z not having a screen… Seems like this stuff must have come up in dev meetings and just been met with ‘oh, that doesn’t reeeeally matter tho right? Just look how cool and unique this thing is!’…

But to me, an ‘ultimate’ portable device that relies on being connected to a phone simply to have a gui, isn’t really an optimised ‘portable’ design. At least not at that price in 2018…

For a start it means you can’t use apps’ UI’s on that phone/tablet to sample in to op-z at the same time as having the op-z UI open. That’s a clunky as hell workflow… Switching apps is the worst part of ios and something I totally avoid since AUv3 arrived. Not sure I wanna spend a relative ton of money on hardware that ties me back in to that hellhole… And balancing a screen device + opz on knees etc is gonna be awkward. Or even more devices if want a dedicated screen and decent sized mini keys…

There’s just a bunch of things about the workflow on this that seem like they’d possibly bug me compared to just using an iPad/phone by itself.

Never say never tho…Interested to see what they’ve put in there and some of the whacked out voodoo sounds that stuff brings out of users.

No separate outs/stems will possibly be a dealbreaker for me personally… I know some people make incredible stuff inside purely op1 without exporting the tape but I get kinda OCD and almost always take it to daw to finish stuff up

I assume there’s gonna be 16 tracks which you can either use for samples/audio files or midi. At least that’s what I hope…

That would be awesome! I don’t think it will work like that.
