I think the difference between the old render/photo and the current beta device is the yellow ports are now gray and flush with the back, where the render had them slightly raised.
Yeah this looks to be the case. I’d love it if they removed that volume control/power switch that sticks out though; it looks like it’d be the first thing to break! Maybe I’ll sand mine down or cut the tag off it when I get mine, haha.
I agree too. I asked Cuckoo about it though and he said its actually fine. It’s not at all vulnerable apparently.

The uper seems to be the old prototype. And the lower is the new prototype. Isn' it?
I guess so too. The ‘black’ keys are for example not black on the upper one. Also the back ports are still yellow which I believe there not gonna be in on the final product. Just my guessing! Do we know for sure if it will support imported samples (16 audio tracks / 16 midi tracks)?
The Bluetooth midi could be very cool. Op1 with its arps and sequencers makes an amazing controller for ipad and this is gonna be even more portable/convenient for that.
Would have been killer if they’d made it a stereo audio interface too. With phono inputs like the small Behringer interfaces. Opz + iPad would have been super convenient little combo if I could also use it to funnel audio in/out of iPad.
Every time I look at it though I just think, ‘This would be soooooooo much better with a screen :/’… For standalone use and also when used as a controller (for example when dialling in exact bpm for manual sync arps/sequences…)… Maybe they’ll make a slightly expanded version one day, I’d pay an extra 50 bucks for a screen and without one I’m not sure I’ll bother.
Been using op1 a lot this this week and started to really want a multitimbral op1 with proper step sequencer… Kind of like a TE Digitone. Haven’t watched all the vids for opz… Is it looking like it’ll be this kind of box?
If Digitone had some of Op1’s funk (the synth types, the spring reverb, the crazy fx, resampling etc…) I’d have grabbed one by now but I’m not really excited enough by anything I heard/saw from the Digitone yet. Wondering if opz might turn out to be something I want afterall and get me eating humble pie.
Part of my change of tunes also down to realising that ‘maybe’ my iPhone SE will fit on the empty part of the opz and I can velcro that sucker on there permanent…
Any scoop on exporting separate tracks? Into the app maybe? 99% of stuff i do with op1 I export the tape tracks to daw to work on. Is there gonna be similar functionality in opz?
Damn, if that case is under $150AU (probably not likely, considering the price of their other official cases!) I’ll have to buy it; especially if it matches the grey of the device…
