New product from TE? Just got a notification from FCC

So is it the maku plastic molder? It seems really cool!! Too much money for me though… :worried:

The molder is only designed by TE but it’s not a TE product.
If we can believe the CE-Sticker dimensions from the label file this new thing should be around 7x8cm or something.

no announcement of any kind, it will be revealed on the FCC site next Wednesday,

I wonder if they could ask for an extension to keep the data hidden if they aren’t ready to release

dang. TE just extended the confidentiality date to 3/22/22. https://apps.fcc.gov/tcb/GetTcb731Report.do?applicationId=Cx7XbClXS4w6YjgiQfEA6g%3D%3D&fcc_id=Z23024A

guess we won’t be seeing anything new anytime soon :frowning:

While waiting for the new product announcement I am still hoping to get at least a new firmware update for the existing products.

I hope it wasn’t this post that reminded them to get the extension

notice green line under the diagram.
why is it there ? this image shows where the stickers should be located. is it back of the product package :package:? or maybe it is shape of an actual product ? if document say its BLT speaker, than its probably true. so maybe its a speaker compatible with green module ?

It’s finally public! The user manual states the name is “choir”, although from the label I’m going to assume it’s only a codename and that the real name is CH-8 (Just how the OB-4’s user manual codename was “spider”).

The manual (https://apps.fcc.gov/eas/GetApplicationAttachment.html?id=5464211) shows the speaker as being the core part of some singing dolls, which leads me to believe it will be similar to the “Absolut Choir” That TE did a few years ago! Absolut Choir on Vimeo

Lastly, here are the pictures of the speaker itself: https://apps.fcc.gov/eas/GetApplicationAttachment.html?id=5464215

What do you guys think about it?
EDIT: Direct links don’t seem to be working right, here’s the index of all the files: https://apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/reports/ViewExhibitReport.cfm?mode=Exhibits&RequestTimeout=500&calledFromFrame=N&application_id=Cx7XbClXS4w6YjgiQfEA6g%3D%3D&fcc_id=Z23024A

Very weird! The manual doesn’t mention it also working as a BT speaker, so it would appear to be a dedicated Buddha-like machine…

How much you guess that will cost? $199? And you need more than one to get it to be “magic”… crazy.

I’m sure it will be pricey, in true TE fashion
On the other hand, I have a slight suspicion that since they are equipped with BLE to communicate with each other, that maybe… just maybe… it will use the OB-4’s currently unused BLE function to make it a master of sorts for the singing dolls. just a thought!

This thing sure is strange🤷‍♂️

They should release it on the 1st April. The joke will be that it’s real and not joke.

what if TE is perfectly aware that FCC documents are public and they just want to get clearance for that particular speaker module with an antenna pcb. thats why it looks so modular. the doll part is just a joke (red haring) designed to misguide people.
anyway, no headphone jack, thats for sure.

Agreed, this is so strange, sounds like a riff on Teenage Engineering collaboration with Absolut vodka company. The creation of
‘Absolut Choir’ in 2007.
