context: david was talking about how TE takes pride in the inside of their machines just as much as the outside. so this is some sort of component inside a new device that will release this year…
I recently came across a podcast from 2017 where Jesper from TE was being interviewed for more than an hour. Among the things he mentioned was that alongside the OP-Z they were developing a secret product that was going to be kind of the opposite of what they would normally do - which in this case was “a product that will be an orgy of cables”…
it does look like the PCBs for modular stuff. sequencer top-right; versions of the same thing bottom, etc; prolly prototype leftovers. here’s to the crazy ones who’d buy TE’s modules…
i bet its a proprietary modular with some 1v stuff. In the same style of Korgs Littlebits synth kit. But knowing TE it could also be a motion control system for video equipment or a camera or a clock.
Wow that’s surprising, I really don’t know anything about eurorack. Can y’all have some wild conjecture about what this could be and how great it will be? Could this be my excuse to delve into the world of eurorack? Should I get one even if I don’t have eurorack?
actually now that i look at the better picture I see holes in all 4 corners like for mounting panels. so jacks and pots ontop of panel? kinda Bleh. not sure though. cool to see TE trying something else.
there’s a lot of talk about his personal background and philosophy / approach to design, but also about where TE is today. The company has around 40 employees and it was very interesting to hear that he considers half of their business to be about speakers and the other half about synths. i wasn’t aware of that their speakers was considered to be such a large part of the company…
Not to be negative cause I really don’t care but no one is shocked they would announce a new product and the op-z is yet to be released? Again not being negative it just seams crazy to me with all the set backs, customs, hazardous spills and pulled pre orders that they would even tease a new product.

This was very interesting, too bad all of you won’t understand. Anyways, I have a better understanding for what kind of company TE is. Jesper is not driven by money but by creating cool good stuff. In the beginning he talked a little about OP-Z. He said something about experimenting with using the accelerometer to play fills in a live situation, so OP-Z is suppose to be using live. He like to work with limitations and using current technology in new different ways.
Maybe I’m completely wrong but why would they cannibalize their yet not released product with such a huge modular thing when all we know they plan modular FXs for OP-Z itself? Something like Pocket FXs for OP-Z and standalone use would be great ?
