Not getting lost with With the XY

I find it really hard not to get lost with the XY. I never had this problem with the OPz strangely enough, considering it lacks the screen.
I’m really missing those flashy thoughts which show me, which track is giving out and which isn’t. I guess it also really helps that all the sounds on the OPz Our kind of map to the dedicated button. I I tried to keep the same system with the OPXY, but then I’m really losing out on flexibility. Then I tried to separate beats and other sounds by starting drums from the left and synths from the right. This is better, but then the initial preset gets in the way a bit.

What I really wish. A slight flicker on the tracks which are already programmed, the ability to program an init patch And better visualization in the mixer page.

What is your strategy not to get lost?

I somewhat agree… I cant really put a finger on it, but the XY hasn’t really jived with my work flow although the op-z did… I really love the XY it is what I always wanted from TE (a sequence based op-1 style machine). I am just hoping that with time it begins to feel more intuitive & fluid. Having said all that, I am not complaining at all I think it is a very capable fun machine.

I feel exactly the same way. I have had it for close to two months and it still doesn’t feel natural to use. I always have to think carefully about how to navigate to the next page or menu and then remember where I was if I want to go back. It always takes me a beat to figure out what is going on with the UI. The OP-Z and OP-1 don’t have this problem as they both have an excellent design.

The workflow is just not very good if you compare it to the OP-Z. Sure there are more features but the core features are harder to use which makes it far less immediate and fun.

This is why I have decided to return mine. I don’t think the UX is very good and their decision to shove the OP-Z sequencer into an OP-1 Field form factor has resulted into a pretty uninspiring piece of gear. I don’t hate the device. It’s pretty ok but just ok is not worth this kind of money.

Interesting. Sorry it’s not clicking for you people
I love my OP-1 Field but haven’t really clicked with OP-Z. Will try again
